Financial aid is available for all students from various sources. The best way to qualify for these funds is to first fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA becomes available Oct. 1 of the year in which you intend to start college. Award notifications (notification of scholarships, grants, and government loan opportunities) take anywhere from 3-6 weeks after FAFSA submittal.

Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) Credit

Our University offers Advanced Placement (AP) credit toward a degree to those students who submit official test scores of 3, 4 or 5 on any examination. How much credit awarded depends on which exams are taken, the scores, and their relevance to the specific Embry-Riddle degree program. IB SL and HL credit will be given if you score a 4 or higher in some tests or a 5 or higher in other tests.

Transfer guides are available for many institutions, but as a rule of thumb, just remember that the more basic classes such as English, Math, Speech, Psychology, etc. Please see our transfer page to see if your school has an available online transfer guide. In most cases, ERAU does its best to transfer as many credits into the University as possible. Credits will only be transferred if they are deemed by our Records Office and faculty as equivalent classes required for degree completion.

Understanding Course Repeat Policies

Except flight courses, which may be repeated only once, a student may attempt any University course only three times, including the initial grade, repeat grades, and any withdrawals and audits. In the case of extraordinary, extenuating circumstances, a fourth attempt may be granted by the Chief Academic Officer or designee. The grade for each attempt will appear on the student’s permanent academic record. In determining the student’s CGPA, the grade for subsequent attempts at a course replaces the previous grade a maximum of two times. All subsequent attempts will be included in the CGPA calculations.

Repeat coursework can have negative consequences on a student’s SAP calculation. Federal regulations limit the number of times a student may repeat a course and receive financial aid for that course. If a student fails their second attempt, no more financial aid will be given to repeat the course a third time. When a student has completed any course twice with a passing grade (A, B, C or D), he or she is no longer eligible to receive aid for that course.
