Engineering Internships: Dive into Technical Challenges
Electric Boat’s engineering internship program is designed to take your engineering skills beyond the classroom. Engineering interns are provided with tasks that are both technically challenging and educationally stimulating. With the guidance of Electric Boat’s senior staff, engineering interns will support the calculations, document development, shipyard problem resolution, and other various technical activities. Finance and Business Internships: Supporting Critical Operations
Beyond engineering, Electric Boat offers internship positions in Finance, Program Finance, Contracts, Tax, Supply Chain Management, and Planning organizations. Interns are provided with tasks that are both technically challenging and educationally stimulating. Each intern accepted into the program will be given a mentor for duration of the internship. These internships provide exposure to the business side of shipbuilding, allowing you to develop valuable skills in financial analysis, contract negotiation, and supply chain management. Co-op Program: A Semester of Immersion
For a more immersive experience, consider the co-op program at Electric Boat. This full-time, on-site position requires a 4-6 month commitment in the Spring or Fall semester, replacing academic coursework during that time. Co-op positions are available at our locations in Groton, New London, and North Stonington, Connecticut, as well as North Kingstown and Newport, Rhode Island. From Columbia Class design to Virginia Class enhancements, you’ll gain hands-on experience in one of the most critical and cutting-edge industries. This program allows you to fully integrate into the Electric Boat team, working on real-world projects and gaining in-depth knowledge of the shipbuilding process.
Summer High School Intern Program (SHIP): Launching Future Shipbuilders
Electric Boat also invests in the next generation of shipbuilders through the Summer High School Intern Program (SHIP). The Summer High School Intern Program (SHIP) at Electric Boat gives rising high school seniors the chance to dive into the world of shipbuilding at our Quonset Point and Groton facilities. Over eight weeks, you’ll work alongside experienced mentors, gain hands-on skills, and explore careers in trades like machining, electrical work, pipefitting, design, and welding. This isn’t just any summer internship-it’s a first step toward a future in advanced manufacturing with one of the most important shipbuilders in the country.
