Program Overview
Art Bridges offers internships in the spring, summer, and fall, accommodating various academic schedules. The program is structured around a three-cohort model, allowing interns to learn from each other and build a strong network. Interns will be considered temporary employees and responsible for all state and federal withholdings from all earnings and payments.
Summer Internship Details
The summer internship is an intensive eight-week session, typically running from early June to late July. In 2023, the dates were June 5-July 28, with a commitment of 35 hours per week. Art Bridges provides travel to and from Bentonville, Arkansas, and housing for the duration of the internship. Residential positions are offered exclusively during the summer and are contingent upon available funding. Selected interns who reside at least one hour from Crystal Bridges or the Momentary will receive housing and relocation assistance.
Spring and Fall Internship Details
SPRING 2026 Internships require a commitment of 8-10 hours per week. Exact work schedules follow the academic calendar and can be flexible to accommodate class needs. Schedules will be set with supervisors at the beginning of each semester. Penn State graduate students and upper-level undergraduates contribute to research, interpretation, exhibition planning, project management, and collections care in addition to completing regular department assignments.

The program emphasizes hands-on learning, providing opportunities to apply your knowledge and contribute to real-world projects. Applicants must be prepared for a hands-on learning experience.

Art Bridges is the vision of philanthropist and arts patron Alice Walton. The mission of Art Bridges is to expand access to American art in all regions across the United States. Since 2017, Art Bridges has been creating and supporting programs that bring outstanding works of American art out of storage and into communities. Art Bridges partners with a growing network of over 215 museums of all sizes and locations to provide financial and strategic support for exhibition development, loans from the Art Bridges collection, and programs designed to educate, inspire, and deepen engagement with local audiences.
COVID-19 Vaccination Policy
In accordance with our duty to provide and maintain a workplace that is free of known hazards, and to do our part in safeguarding the health of our co-workers and their families as well as the community at large from COVID-19 that will be reduced by vaccination, we are requiring all Art Bridges staff and interns to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by their start date as a condition of employment.
