Delta Delta Delta (ΔΔΔ), also known as Tri Delta, stands as an international collegiate women's fraternity with a rich history and a vast network of over 200,000 members. Founded on November 27, 1888, at Boston University by Sarah Ida Shaw, Eleanor Dorcas Pond, Florence Isabelle Stewart, and Isabel Morgan Breed, Tri Delta has fostered a legacy of sisterhood, scholarship, and service. The organization's magazine, The Trident, has been in publication since 1891, further connecting members across generations.
The Enduring Principles of Tri Delta
The purpose of Delta Delta Delta is to establish a perpetual bond of friendship among its members, to develop a stronger and more womanly character, to broaden the moral and intellectual life, and to assist its members in every possible way. Guided by the motto "Asfalos Agapomen Allaylas," meaning "Let us steadfastly love one another," Tri Delta encourages its members to uphold the values of service, support, belonging, and sisterhood.
The fraternity's symbols further represent its values and history. The Greek alphabet letters Delta Delta Delta (ΔΔΔ) serve as the official symbols, while the dolphin is recognized as an additional symbol, considered a good omen by the ancient Greeks. The colors of Tri Delta are silver, gold, and cerulean blue. The jewel is the pearl.
Philanthropic Commitment: Aiding St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
Tri Delta's commitment to philanthropy is exemplified by its long-standing partnership with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Since 1999, Tri Delta has raised over $70 million for St. Jude, demonstrating an unwavering dedication to helping children and subsidizing research costs. The sorority's fundraising efforts have supported the construction of the Tri Delta Place, St. Jude's only on-campus housing facility, which includes 64 hotel-style rooms and 36 suites.
Tri Delta's dedication to St. Jude has been recognized with numerous accolades, including being named the St. Jude partner of the year for 2014, making Tri Delta the first non-corporation to receive this honor. Every year, chapters host a variety of events to raise money for these causes, including sporting events, pancake breakfasts, and spaghetti dinners. Every Tri Delta member also participates in "Sincerely Yours," an international writing campaign to raise money for St Jude.

Elizabeth Banks: An acclaimed actress, director, and producer, Banks joined Delta Delta Delta at the University of Pennsylvania, where she graduated magna cum laude.
Farrah Fawcett: The late actress, best known for her role in Charlie's Angels, was a member of Tri Delta at the University of Texas at Austin.

Organizational Structure and Chapter Activities
Active members of each Tri Delta chapter may join a committee or be slated into an office in order to serve the organization and develop leadership skills. Each collegiate chapter president oversees chapter business, including membership in every team and committee. Each subsequent office is organized into one of the following teams, each headed by a vice president: Administration, Chapter Development, Finance, Public Relations, and Membership. Further committees, assistants, and chair positions are tailored to each chapter's specific needs. A new officer structure was introduced in 2020 which consists of the collegiate chapter president and vice presidents with responsibilities for operations, chapter programming and development, community relations, and membership experience.
Tri Delta chapters across North America engage in a variety of activities, including philanthropic events, sisterhood retreats, and academic support programs. These activities foster a sense of community and provide opportunities for personal and professional growth.
