Clark Atlanta University's football program boasts a rich and storied history, one intertwined with dedication, perseverance, and the unwavering spirit of its athletes and supporters. From its humble beginnings to its recent resurgence, the program has left an indelible mark on the landscape of collegiate athletics.

Early Days and Enduring Spirit

The story of Clark Atlanta University football is deeply connected to individuals like Raymond "Tweet" Williams, whose lifelong involvement with the institution exemplifies the program's enduring spirit. Williams' journey began at the age of 11 when he frequented Clark College football practices, eventually becoming the team's water boy. His dedication led him to join the team in the 1940s, and later, he served as Athletic Director at what is now Clark Atlanta University.

Raymond says he got the nickname “Tweet” back in the day as a student athlete. He says he had skinny bird legs, so teammates called him “Tweet Tweet” and everybody calls him that to this day.

A Historic Turnaround

In recent years, the Clark Atlanta Panthers have experienced a remarkable transformation, capturing the attention of the NCAA. After a challenging 0-10 season, the team, under the leadership of new Head Coach Teddy Keaton, achieved a stunning 7-2-1 record. This dramatic turnaround marks one of the most significant in NCAA history, igniting excitement and pride among the Panther faithful.

Athletic Director Dr. Jerel Drew, in his announcement, highlighted that for the first time in 47 years, the Panthers are headed to the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship.
