Canvas Student Login Guide: A Comprehensive Overview

Canvas has become an integral online system for teaching and learning. This guide provides a comprehensive overview of how students can navigate Canvas, access Zoom for online classes, and how parents can observe their child's progress within the platform.

Accessing Canvas

Canvas provides a platform for teachers to create an online classroom that supports both real-time (synchronous) and self-paced (asynchronous) learning. You can access your online class on the first day of the term. Some classes may be available up to 7 days prior to the class start date, closer to that date.

Logging In

Your Canvas password is the same as your MyECC password. Type your information in the text boxes. Once completed, click the Submit button.

Password Reset

To reset your password:

  1. Enter what you want to use as your password.
  2. New password must be positions long and alpha-numeric.
  3. Special characters may also be used.

Zoom Integration

Activating Your Zoom Account

There are three options for activating your account in Zoom. Open the Chrome browser and go to pwcs-zm-edu.zoom.us. Select "Sign In".

Parent/Guardian Access and Pairing Codes

As a student, you can provide parents or guardians with a Pairing Code to observe your courses.

Generating a Pairing Code

A new window will open. Copy the six-digit alphanumeric pairing code. You will need to share the code with the observer who will link to your account.

Parent Account Creation

Once parents receive their pairing code, they will need to sign up for a Canvas account. Parents will go to the Canvas login page and select "Parent of a Canvas User". Parents will enter the information requested including the pairing code provided to them by their child or their child's teacher. To add more students to observe, once logged in, parents will want to select Account > Observing.
