Austin Community College: A Comprehensive Guide to Student Services
Austin Community College (ACC) provides a wide array of student services designed to support students throughout their academic journey. Navigating these resources can be challenging, but this guide offers a comprehensive overview to help students make the most of what ACC offers.
Academic Support Services
ACC is committed to helping students succeed academically through various resources, including the ACCelerator, learning labs, tutoring services, academic coaching, supplemental instruction, and library services.
ACCelerator
Designed to help you succeed, ACCelerators combine cutting-edge technology, flexible learning environments, and personalized academic support-all in one place. The ACCelerator at Highland Campus spans 32,000 square feet, offering over 600 computer stations, open study spaces, study rooms, and classrooms. You’ll also have access to printing, scanning, various software, and other essential academic services. The ACCelerator and Strategic Initiatives Team always welcomes feedback on our services. The ACCelerator Persistence Award program recognizes students who show dedication using ACCelerator resources which has had a positive impact on their persistence. Each month students are nominated by faculty and staff at each of the ACCelerators and highlighted on the Student Success Monitor.
Learning Labs
Learning Labs across the College provide academic support both online and in-person across disciplines for all currently enrolled students. Our tutors are ACC faculty and subject matter experts who offer assistance with academic and workforce courses. In addition to free tutoring, Learning Labs offer interactive computer applications, student study groups and workshops, and an array of helpful materials and resources.
Tutoring Services
Access free tutoring services year-round at ACC. The College offers in-person tutoring sessions that are available on a first-come, first-served basis and online tutoring that is available by appointment. ACC tutors are dedicated professionals whose goal is to help you prepare for course requirements and gain confidence in your skills. Get one-on-one writing help from ACC’s Writing Center.

Academic Coaching
The College offers academic coaching to students. Academic Coaches hold one-on-one meetings with students to work on time management, self-advocacy, motivation, goal clarification, reading comprehension, study skills, and developing personal plans for academic success. Academic coaches will help you make better grades with less stress.
Supplemental Instruction (SI)
Supplemental Instruction (SI) is an academic support model that uses peer-assisted study sessions. SI study sessions, led by student leaders who previously passed the course, are informal seminars in which classmates compare notes, discuss readings, develop organizational tools, and predict test items. Supplemental Instruction (SI) offers peer-to-peer study sessions and group learning support.
Library Services
ACC’s library services have the resources you need to excel in your coursework. Collections: Library materials vary by campus. The size of a library’s print collection also varies, with larger campuses housing the College’s larger general collections. Computers in Libraries: Your ACCeID is all you need to use library computers and your valid, current ACC ID card allows you to borrow a laptop for in-library use.
Enrollment and Registration Assistance
Navigating the enrollment and registration process can be daunting. ACC offers several resources to assist students, including registration stations, ACCeID activation support, and area of study academic guidance teams.
Registration Stations
Registration Stations are open all semester long to provide in-person or virtual registration assistance. Specialists from Advising, Admissions & Enrollment, Financial Aid, Recruitment, and other departments are here to help so you can start your next semester with confidence. Get one-on-one help through one of three ways.

ACCeID Activation
Have you activated your ACCeID? Log in to MyACC to see any hold notifications that might restrict you from registering, as well as information on how to clear any existing holds.
Area of Study Academic Guidance Teams
Area of Study academic guidance teams consist of Advisors and Success Coaches who will help you stay on track for your program, select your classes, and make decisions about your educational and career goals. As a student of ACC, you will be assigned an area of study guidance team member based on your declared program. Students are assigned an Academic Guidance Team member (Advisor or Success Coach) after they begin courses with ACC. If you are a new, transfer student with 12 or more credit hours or a student who has not yet been assigned an advisor, you can get a full advising session through *Zoom using your computer or mobile device! New ACC students who have fewer than 12 credit hours should complete our Online New Student Orientation to get familiar with the college and our processes. Academic guidance team members are able to support students by appointment in person or online. Check Self Service to make sure your program is correct. Get help with degree planning, course registration, career exploration, and transfer options.
Financial Support Services
ACC understands that financing education is a significant concern for many students. The college provides various financial support services, including financial aid, work-study programs, and scholarships.
Financial Aid
Financial aid is an excellent opportunity to assist you with tuition, fees, and college expenses, so remember to visit or contact the Financial Aid Office to discuss your eligibility for aid and receive assistance with applying for and accepting your aid package. You must reapply for financial aid every year, and you must maintain your grade point average (GPA) in order to remain in good standing to receive financial aid.
Work-Study and ACC GROW Hourly Employment Program
Austin Community College District (ACC) offers students the opportunity to work part-time in a community service position or a field related to their Area of Study. In many cases, students may be receiving financial aid and are eligible for work-study. Visit Work-Study for more information. The ACC GROW Hourly Employment Program provides part-time job opportunities for students who do not qualify for work-study. Jobs are often associated with students’ Area of Study, so they may receive career training and continue to learn while earning a paycheck.

Student Support and Advocacy
ACC is dedicated to supporting students' overall well-being through various services such as mental health counseling, student accessibility services, student advocacy, and support for parenting students.
Mental Health Counseling
Austin Community College (ACC) Mental Health Counselors are dedicated to providing ethical, confidential, and student-centered care. Our Licensed Professional Counselors and Licensed Clinical Social Work Counselors adhere to the highest standards of their respective licensing boards and are committed to supporting the mental well-being of our diverse student body. We offer counseling sessions to enrolled students over the age of 18. Following an initial intake assessment, counseling sessions are offered based on individual student needs. While we are here to support as many students as possible, some services fall outside of what we can ethically and sustainably provide. We provide referral assistance for concerns outside of our scope of practice. *Effective August 18, 2025, all Mental Health Counseling Services currently provided at the Cypress Creek and San Gabriel campuses will be relocated to the C.A.R.E. Network Center at the Round Rock Campus, located in Building 2000, Suite 2110.00. Services at the Northridge Campus will continue as usual. *Students who require services beyond the scope offered by the Mental Health Counseling team will be referred to community resources. Additionally all who reach out to us are offered referrals to Campus and Community Resources.
Student Accessibility Services (SAS)
Student Accessibility Services (SAS) offices are located at each Austin Community College District (ACC) campus. If you have a disability(neurological, learning disability, ADHD, psychological/mental health, chronic health, deaf and hard of hearing, blind/low vision), you may be eligible for classroom and/or testing accommodations. If you think you may qualify for services, please contact SAS at the campus that is most convenient to you. SAS staff will meet with you to determine reasonable, appropriate, and effective accommodations based on your disability and on the courses in which you are enrolled. Eligibility for some services is based on your income. You may qualify for these services if you qualify for financial aid. Applications are accepted year-round and are considered on a first-come, first-served basis.
Student Advocates and Parenting Student Liaisons
Student Advocates at each campus also serve as Parenting Student Liaisons to act as a liaison officer for current or incoming students at the college who are the parent or guardian of a child younger than 18 years of age. The liaison officers provide information to students regarding support services and other resources available to the students at ACC. Additionally, there are many community services that offer help with childcare, employment, and housing. View ACC and Community Resource List for more information. Student Life
ACC Student Life promotes an environment committed to your personal, emotional, cultural, social, and ethical development. Through Student Life, you may be involved in student clubs, intramural sports, volunteer opportunities, and campus governance. Take advantage of meeting other students and learning and connecting with other interesting people. The Riverbat Ambassador programs are student leaders who work in the Office of Student Life. In order to be hired in the Office of Student Life, a student must be awarded work-study through ACC Financial Aid.
Technology Resources
ACC provides students with access to technology resources to support their academic endeavors.
Computer Centers and Labs
Doing research? Writing a paper? Completing an assignment? The Computer Center, located in or near each campus library, has computer stations with software for general student use. Additional computer labs provide access to specialized software for students enrolled in specific classes.
Student Technology Services
Student access to technology to ensure that students have the tools needed to succeed in their ACC courses. Student Technology Services provides access to iPad kits (iPads, keyboards, cases) for semester-long checkout.
Career Development Services
ACC provides career counseling to help students explore career options and prepare for employment.
Career Counseling
Career Counselors provide in-depth specialized personal counseling associated with critical career development and employment-related issues to current, former, and prospective students that exceeds the service level routinely available through existing campus personnel and resources.
Veterans Resource Center
The Austin Community College District (ACC) Veterans Resource Center offers the College’s military and veteran students a central, one-stop location for obtaining essential support services such as VA certification and advising for VA benefits. The 4,000-square-foot center at the Highland Campus also features a lounge area where students can connect with peers and participate in veteran-specific activities. ACC’s Veterans Affairs Office specialists at the Veterans Resource Center and at the Northridge, Riverside, and Round Rock campuses are available to help you and your dependents enroll at ACC, pay for college, and tap into the rich network of support and services to help transition into and through college toward your graduation and/or transfer.
