Navigating Your Academic Journey: A Guide to the Asia Pacific University Semester Schedule

Planning your academic path at Asia Pacific University (APU) is a crucial step towards achieving your educational goals. Understanding the semester schedule and utilizing the tools available, such as BoxerOnline and Student Planning, ensures a smooth and successful academic journey. This comprehensive guide will walk you through the process of planning, scheduling, registering, and tracking your progress toward graduation at APU.

Utilizing Student Planning for Academic Success

Pacific University upgraded its BoxerOnline platform, introducing "Student Planning," a user-friendly tool designed to simplify the processes of planning, scheduling, registering for courses, and monitoring progress toward graduation. This platform allows students to proactively map out their courses across multiple semesters and academic years, aligning with their anticipated graduation timeline.

Strategic Course Planning

Student Planning empowers you to distribute your classes strategically throughout your academic career. By planning ahead, you can ensure a balanced workload each semester and avoid feeling overwhelmed. The platform also allows you to explore various course options and identify those that align with your interests and academic goals.

Scheduling Sections

Once the semester schedule is released, you can schedule specific sections, which represent the dates and times a course is offered. This feature allows you to create a personalized schedule that accommodates your other commitments and preferences.

Finding Courses

The "Search for Classes" function enables you to locate specific courses by name or number. The "Course Catalog" tab allows you to browse courses by subject. Once you find a course of interest, select "Add Course to Plan" to incorporate it into your academic plan.

Monitoring Academic Progress

The Student Planning Home page provides a comprehensive overview of your academic standing, including your declared major/minor(s), cumulative grade point average, and credit information. This information helps you stay informed about your progress and identify any areas that may require attention.

Declaring or Changing Your Major

For guidance on declaring or changing your major, consult with your academic advisor and refer to the information available on Declaring Your Major. Your advisor can provide personalized advice and support as you make important decisions about your academic path.

Evaluating Program Requirements

The "My Progress" feature allows you to assess your progress toward completing your chosen academic program. By selecting "View a New Program," you can evaluate how your completed academic credits align with the requirements of a specific program. This feature helps you identify any remaining courses or requirements needed for graduation.

Registration Process

Student Planning streamlines the registration process, making it easier to enroll in your desired courses.

Scheduling Sections Before Registration Opens

You have the option to schedule sections prior to the official registration opening date for the semester. This allows you to plan your ideal schedule in advance and be prepared to register as soon as your registration window opens.

Registering for Planned Sections

Once registration opens, you can register for any or all of your scheduled sections. To register for all planned sections simultaneously, click the "Register Now" button in the top right corner of the platform. It is important to note that this option only registers you for available sections and does not include sections that are already full.

Registering for Individual Sections

Alternatively, you can register for individual planned sections by selecting the "Register" button at the bottom of each section on the left. This option provides more flexibility and allows you to prioritize specific courses or sections.

Understanding Registration Dates and Restrictions

Your registration date and time are displayed on the Plan & Schedule page. Eligibility to register for classes is determined by your registration priority. Any restrictions on your record that may prevent you from registering will be displayed under "Notifications" in the top right corner of Student Planning.
