Navigating the Clear Bag Policy at Alumni Stadium: A Comprehensive Guide

Attending events at Alumni Stadium, whether it's NightBEAT or a Sun Devil game at Mountain America Stadium, requires familiarity with the venue's clear bag policy. These policies are in place to enhance safety and security while expediting the entry process for all attendees. Understanding the specific regulations regarding bags, permitted items, and prohibited items will ensure a smoother and more enjoyable experience.

Understanding the Clear Bag Policy

The clear bag policy implemented at Alumni Stadium, mirroring those adopted by the NFL and NCAA, aims to enhance public safety and streamline stadium access. Fans are encouraged to minimize the number of bags brought to events. This proactive measure enhances safety inside and outside the stadium and speeds up the security screening process.

Permitted Bags

  • Clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC bags: These bags must not exceed 12” x 6” x 12”.
  • One-gallon clear plastic bags: Ziploc-style bags are acceptable.
  • Small clutch bags: These bags must be no larger than 6.5” x 4.5”, with or without a strap.
  • Medically necessary items: These are permitted but subject to inspection.

Items Allowed Inside Clear Bags

Fans can carry items such as phones, wallets, keys, and approved cameras inside the clear bags. Binoculars, phones, or cameras can be carried into the stadium so long as they are not in their own bag. This is not a restriction on items that fans have been able to bring into the stadium. It is only a restriction on the type of container used to carry items.

Seat Cushions

Only approved seat cushions may be carried into the stadium. Large traditional seat cushions that have pockets, zippers, compartments, or covers are not permitted. Seat cushions without backs, arms, or pockets are permitted.

Prohibited Items

Any bags that do not meet the criteria will be turned away. Fans carrying non-approved bags must return them to their vehicle. There are no provisions to check prohibited bags or items at the stadium. Fans will be asked to either return prohibited items to their parked vehicle, if they have not entered the stadium, or dispose of prohibited items at the gate.

Flexibility in Carrying Items

The policy limits only the type of bags carried into the stadium, not items that you normally bring to the event. Therefore, you can carry in your pockets or jacket keys, makeup, feminine products, comb, phone, wallet, credit cards, etc., if you choose not to put them in a clear bag or clutch. And you can carry binoculars and/or camera around your neck or in your hands without the case. You can use the clear bag and clutch to carry other items. You will continue to have the flexibility to bring a wide variety of approved items into the stadium.

Diapers

Diapers can be carried in a clear bag. Each member of a family, including children, would be allowed to carry an approved clear bag and a clutch purse into the stadium.

Entry and Screening Process at Mountain America Stadium

All guests to Mountain America Stadium - Game Day staff, ticketed guests, and credentialed individuals will be subject to screening before entering Mountain America Stadium. Walk-through metal detectors will be the primary means of screening. Any guest unable to use the walk-through metal detectors will be screened using an alternative option. Any working staff and guests to Mountain America Stadium who do not consent to the screening process will be denied entry into the stadium.

All stadium gates will open 90 minutes before kickoff. Guests may enter or exit through the screened area freely.

Preparing for Graduation: Key Dates and Processes

While enjoying events at Alumni Stadium is a significant part of the college experience, understanding the graduation process is equally important for students nearing the completion of their degrees. Several key dates and procedures must be followed to ensure a smooth transition from student to graduate.

Applying to Graduate

When you Apply to Graduate, select your last term of study. For instance, if your final term before completing your degree is Fall 2026, choose Fall 2026 from the dropdown menu. Do not select Spring 2026 as your graduation term if you are only participating in the Spring 2026 ceremonies, as the ceremony is not directly tied to your graduation term.

To be included in the official commencement program and have access to the RSVP platform, Tassel, you must complete the Apply to Graduate process. This adds you to our commencement database, granting you access to RSVP and Tassel in your student portal.

Applying to Graduate is the process to obtain your official degree; commencement is the celebration. These are separate processes.

If you need to change your graduation term, please reach out to your academic advisor. You will NOT need to reapply to graduate nor pay the fee again if you already paid.

Tassel Platform

Tassel is an online platform that issues students their GradPass (necessary for entry into the ceremony), manages student information for display on the digital displays during the ceremony (including name, major, degree, and college), and offers the capability for students to record the pronunciation of their names for professional name recorders for stage crossing announcements.

Students are not required to actively "sign up" for Tassel. When you go through the Apply to Graduate process, your details are then uploaded to the Tassel database. Once the Tassel portal becomes accessible, it will be available through your CSULB SSO.

If you plan to attend your ceremony, log in to Tassel to verify that all information is accurate. You will pick up your Tassel GradPass on THE DAY OF YOUR CEREMONY at Graduate Check-in. This GradPass serves as your ticket to participate-no separate ticket is required for graduates.

Professional name readers will record the names for all who have submitted their RSVP and name pronunciation on Tassel while the portal is open. This is required for your name to appear as you cross the stage, and for your name to be announced as you cross the stage.

Important Dates and Deadlines

If you submit your application after the deadline, there is no assurance that your name will be included in the online graduate recognition program since the deadline is March 1st. You also won't be included in the printed Graduate Recognition Program (though we can add you after June 1).

Tassel will open on March 17 and close on April 21. Due to Tassel's process of program finalization and GradPass printing, information changes or additions are no longer possible. Please RSVP through Tassel by April 21 to ensure you're fully recognized.

DO NOT delay logging in until April 21, as there is a risk of potential crashes. It's crucial to note that once Tassel closes, even in the event of a crash, there is no means of accessing it thereafter, even for university administration, as it is a third party platform. Tassel is open for a significant amount of time to allow grads to access with plenty of time.

Credential students are not required to submit a graduation application. However, their access to the RSVP portal and Tassel login may be delayed because we typically receive a comprehensive list of credential candidates from the College of Education in late March. Rest assured, you will still have ample time to RSVP, redeem your guest tickets, and personalize your name and access your information in Tassel before the portal's closing deadline of April 21, 2026.

Regalia

For more information about your regalia please visit or contact the University Bookstore. They will also host a Grad Fair, March 9-12. Graduates: Please note that you will put on your regalia after proceeding through security at the Grad Check-In.

Honors

Honors based on GPA are not acknowledged during the ceremony since GPAs are computed only after the degree has been officially conferred, typically several weeks after the semester concludes.
