Unlocking Educational Opportunities: Understanding ACE Scholarships in Montana
Every child deserves a great education, and ACE Scholarships is committed to helping lower-income parents provide that opportunity to their children. In Montana, ACE Scholarships offer a pathway for students to access private education, providing financial assistance to families who qualify. This article delves into the eligibility guidelines, application process, and impact of ACE Scholarships in Montana, providing a comprehensive overview for parents and supporters alike.
What are ACE Scholarships?
ACE Scholarships was founded in Colorado in 2000 to provide these low-income parents with school choice for their families through partial scholarships to K-12 private schools. ACE serves children whose families qualify for the federal Free and Reduced Lunch Program and the median income for our ACE families is $32,000 a year. Since launching in Montana in 2012, ACE Scholarships has awarded close to 9,000 scholarships allowing families to send their kids to schools that are right for them.
Eligibility Guidelines for Montana ACE Scholarships
To receive an ACE scholarship in Montana, families must meet specific eligibility guidelines. While the exact criteria may vary, some general requirements include:
- Income-Based: ACE scholarships are income based and limited to $2-3,000 annually for grades 1st through 8th grade. ACE serves children whose families qualify for the federal Free and Reduced Lunch Program.
- Grade Level: In addition, please note that to be eligible for a scholarship, children must be entering grades K-8 (certain partner programs require that children be entering K-5 or K-6), and in most cases, new scholarships are only awarded to children coming from public school or entering Kindergarten.
- Age Requirement: Children must also be 5 years old by the beginning of the school year for which they have been awarded a scholarship. Exceptions can be made for children who are at least four and a half years old if the school confirms that they have been accepted into the regular Kindergarten class and are expected to enter first grade the following academic year.
- Residency: Applicants must be residents of Montana.
It's important to consult the official ACE Scholarships website or contact their Montana office for the most up-to-date and detailed eligibility requirements.

We use FACTS Grant and Aid to determine your family’s eligibility for a 50 percent scholarship. This provides an accurate, unbiased way of determining which students receive awards and how much each of those awards should total.
