Navigating Your Yuba College Transcript Request
A Yuba College transcript serves as a comprehensive record of a student's academic journey, encompassing a chronological list of classes, grades, credits earned, and degrees conferred. Understanding the nuances of transcript requests, including the differences between official and unofficial versions, fees, and ordering procedures, is crucial for students and alumni alike.
Official vs. Unofficial Transcripts: Understanding the Difference
While both official and unofficial transcripts provide a detailed academic history, key distinctions exist. An official transcript bears the college seal, an authorized signature, and the date of issuance, lending it a higher degree of verification. It is delivered in a sealed envelope or as a secure electronic PDF, which should remain unopened by anyone except the intended recipient. Official transcripts are typically required for transfer applications, graduate school admissions, certain employment opportunities, and scholarship applications. In contrast, unofficial transcripts lack these security features and are often used for personal reference or advising purposes.
Ordering Your Yuba College Transcript
Yuba College offers multiple avenues for requesting transcripts, catering to different student needs and access levels.
Online Ordering
The most convenient method for obtaining an official transcript is through online ordering. Secure electronic PDF transcripts can be requested via the National Student Clearinghouse. When requesting digital copies of your official transcript, you should select the institution as the receiver. Note that other colleges and universities may not accept digital copies of your transcript if forwarded from the student. An additional $2.25 processing fee from National Student Clearinghouse will be applied to your credit/debit card for any transcript ordered online.
Requesting a Transcript by Mail
If online ordering is not feasible, students can complete the Transcript Request Form and submit it via mail. Payment can be made by check or money order, payable to Yuba College. Credit card information can also be entered on the bottom of the form.

In-Person Request
For those without computer access, unofficial transcripts can be requested in person at the Admissions & Records Office.
You can also request transcripts in person at the Woodland Community College Admissions & Records Office. Bring a picture ID. Forms are available in the Student Services Building outside the Admissions & Records Office window.
Processing Time and Fees
Transcripts are generally processed within 5 working days. Yuba College provides the first two transcript copies ever requested free of charge. Subsequent copies are available for $5.00 each. For urgent requests, a rush service is available for a $10.00 fee, processing the order at the time of pick-up.
Important Considerations
- FERPA Compliance: All transcript orders require appropriate authorization in compliance with the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA).
- Transfer Credit: The Admissions and Records Office determines eligibility for, and extent of, credit per transcript evaluated. Generally, there is no limit to the number of units a student may transfer to Yuba College. Courses may be used to meet degree requirements at Yuba College even if they have been used to meet requirements at another college or even if they are several years old.
- Non-Accredited Institutions: Yuba College does not grant college credit for courses completed at non-accredited colleges/universities, or for upper division courses.
- USAFI Courses: Credit is allowed for college-level USAFI courses (but not for USAFI GED).
