Choosing Carnegie Mellon University
Earlier this year, Suri, who is a senior at the famed LaGuardia High School of Music & Arts and Performing Arts, revealed that she’s going to college at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania this fall. Suri Cruise is going to Carnegie Mellon University. The announcement came via a video, which was captioned “LaG commitment day” (for Fiorello H. LaGuardia performing arts high school in New York City), Suri and her pals displayed sweaters that featured the names of colleges they would each attend in the fall. The Hannah Montana (aka Miley Cyrus) song “I’ll Always Remember You” played in the background. In the video, Suri was sporting a red Carnegie Mellon University sweater. The Pittsburgh college just so happens to have a prestigious performing arts department, which may suggest that the incoming freshman could pursue a career in entertainment. Suri Cruise has officially started her college career.
Carnegie Mellon University is known for its strong performing arts department, hinting that Suri may be exploring a creative path. The teenager's vocals have already been featured in two of her mom's projects: 2022’s “Alone Together” and 2023’s “Rare Objects.” Holmes discussed those family work opportunities in a 2023 interview with Glamour. "I hope she always does something on my films. I always ask her." She added, "It was very meaningful to me to have her there, because she’s my heart."
Suri Cruise, aka Suri Noelle, the daughter of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise, is officially a Tartan. Or at least she will be when fall classes start on Aug. She’s far from the only recognizable face to walk the halls of CMU.

Move-In Day at Carnegie Mellon
About a week ago, Suri was photographed rolling a suitcase into a dorm at Carnegie Mellon, accompanied by Holmes. The 18-year-old moved into her dorm at Carnegie Mellon University over the weekend with the help of her mom, Katie Holmes, while her famous father, Tom Cruise, was living large in London. Katie Holmes helped daughter Suri Cruise move into her dorm over the weekend. Cruise, pictured Sunday, dressed casually for college move-in day. Holmes, pictured above on Sunday, also looked relaxed in jeans and a button down. Suri, who wore long denim shorts and an off-the-shoulder white top, seemed excited for the new chapter as she wheeled some of her suitcases into the building. After getting everything unpacked, the “Dawson’s Creek” alum, 45, and the college student strolled around campus. The duo lugged suitcases and boxes into Cruise’s new dorm on Sunday. The Holmes-Cruise Dynamic
Holmes, 45, and Tom welcomed Suri in April 2006, but after the former couple split in 2011, the “Mission: Impossible” actor and his daughter drifted further and further apart. Suri has been estranged from her Scientologist father for nearly her entire life. However, she is extremely close to her mother, who recently admitted she “will miss the close proximity” to her daughter once she’s off to college. The teen’s father, Tom Cruise, did not join the two, pictured at Carnegie Mellon University on Sunday. Suri, pictured with her mom on Sunday, has been estranged from the Scientologist for most of her life. Tom was in London while Suri and Holmes were in Pittsburgh.
Although Holmes rarely talks about her daughter publicly, she told Town & Country that she is “really proud” of Suri. And while Katie-who split with Tom in 2012-has expressed her desire to keep Suri out of the spotlight she has reflected on their life together. "I hope she always does something on my films," Katie said. "I always ask her.
Cruise admitted that he “didn’t expect” Holmes to file for divorce, after about six years of marriage. The divorce proceeded quickly with the ex-spouses reaching a settlement within 11 days. The Sun reported that Holmes was granted sole custody of Suri. “He has never hesitated paying his daughter’s child support and expenses. He does not go back on his word.
