Drew Lock: From Missouri Tiger to NFL Quarterback
Paul Andrew "Drew" Lock, born on November 10, 1996, is an American professional football quarterback currently playing for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League (NFL). His journey to the NFL began with a promising college career at the University of Missouri.
Early Years and Recruitment

2015: Freshman Season
Lock was not immediately named a starter as a freshman when he got onto campus, but he found his way into the starting lineup not long thereafter. Lock made his debut in 2015, stepping up as a freshman quarterback. He started eight games, finishing the season with a 2-6 record. Lock tallied 1,332 passing yards, four touchdown passes, and eight interceptions. His first collegiate start came against South Carolina. Lock also saw action against BYU.
2016: Sophomore Season
Lock started all 12 games that year en route to finishing 4-8. In Missouri's second game of the 2016 season, Lock completed 24-for-37 for a career-high 450 yards while tying a school record with five touchdowns against Eastern Michigan in Mizzou's home opener. He tossed for three more touchdowns on 23-of-38 passing in Missouri's 28-27 loss to Georgia. Lock's passing total of 1,106 yards was more than any Mizzou quarterback in his first three games ever. Lock's performance included a game against Delaware State, where he played only the first half but put up huge numbers in the 79-0 win. Lock’s sophomore year also included match ups against Arkansas.

2017: Junior Season
Locks’ third season was where things began to take a turn for the better, not only for him but for the program as well. Lock led the NCAA and set the SEC and Missouri records for passing touchdowns with 44 while helping the Tigers reach a bowl game. 2018: Senior Season
In his fourth and final season, Lock had 3,498 passing yards, 28 passing touchdowns, and eight interceptions to go along with six rushing touchdowns. On October 20 against Memphis, he passed for 350 yards and four touchdowns in the win. Missouri closed out the regular season with a four-game winning streak against Florida, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, and Arkansas where Lock had nine passing touchdowns to two interceptions while having three rushing touchdowns. He also played against South Carolina.

NFL Career
Following a productive college football season that saw him become a starter almost from the onset, Lock turned his attention to the NFL Draft.
2019-2021: Denver Broncos
Lock was selected by the Denver Broncos in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft. John Elway planned to bring QB Drew Lock along slowly. The Broncos signed three players to active roster. In Week 14 against the Houston Texans, a game in which the Texans were favored by nine points, Lock threw three touchdowns in the first half and led another scoring drive to start the second half, giving his team a 38-3 lead. Lock started the remainder of the season. Drew Lock tied John Elway for most wins by a rookie Broncos QB in 2019.

In Week 1 against the Tennessee Titans on Monday Night Football, Lock threw for 216 yards and a touchdown during the narrow 16-14 loss. In Week 2, he left the game early in the first quarter with a shoulder injury against the Pittsburgh Steelers. In Week 6, Lock returned from his injury against the New England Patriots. He had 189 yards passing and two interceptions, but the Broncos won the game 18-12 thanks to six Brandon McManus field goals. With the win, Lock became the youngest quarterback ever to defeat the Patriots at Gillette Stadium under head coach Bill Belichick, as well as the second quarterback to do so while throwing multiple interceptions (Kurt Warner also accomplished the feat in 2001). Two weeks later against the Chargers, Lock had 248 passing yards, three touchdowns, and an interception in a 31-30 comeback victory. The third touchdown pass was a game-winning one-yard pass to wide receiver K. J. Hamler. Lock finished the 2020 season with 16 touchdowns and 15 interceptions, tied for the most interceptions in the NFL with Carson Wentz, despite only playing in 13 games.
Lock spent the 2021 preseason in a competition with newly acquired quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. In Week 4, Lock played against the Baltimore Ravens after Bridgewater suffered a concussion. In Week 12, Lock entered the game against the Chargers late in the first half after a leg injury temporarily sidelined Bridgewater. In Week 15, Lock came in against the Cincinnati Bengals after Bridgewater left the game with a concussion.
2022-2023: Seattle Seahawks (First Stint)
In 2022, Lock joined the Seattle Seahawks as part of the trade that sent Russell Wilson to Denver. Drew Lock changes jersey numbers, wants '2 to be Drew'. Although Smith was active for the Week 15 game against the Philadelphia Eagles, he had not recovered enough to start, making Lock the starter again. With the Seahawks down 13-17 and 1:52 left in the game, Lock led a 92-yard touchdown drive, concluding with a 29-yard touchdown throw to Jaxon Smith-Njigba with 0:28 left.
2024: New York Giants
Giants signing QB Drew Lock as veteran backup to Daniel Jones. There was no quarterback battle developing in New York. Drew Lock accounts for 5 TDs in 45-point outburst. Giants' offense explodes in 45-33 win, knocking Colts out of playoff race.
2025-Present: Seattle Seahawks (Second Stint)
