Up to 10 $3,000 scholarships do not require a separate application, although you must submit a digital portfolio of your work to be considered.

The Danforth Scholars Program

The Danforth Scholars Program honors students with a passion for helping others and who have demonstrated leadership in service and a strong commitment to community. Danforth Scholars may receive full-tuition scholarships with a $2,500 stipend or partial-tuition scholarships.

Applicants must write a short answer (maximum 250 words) on the following topic: Chancellor Danforth and Mrs. Danforth deeply cared about building trust within the community and being of service to others. They embodied a spirit of servant leadership. Like the Danforths, Danforth Scholars are leaders seeking to build community through fostering growth and empowerment rather than focusing on personal authority. Reflecting on the leadership tenure of the Danforths and the pillars of the Danforth Scholars Program, how have you utilized your leadership skills to foster growth and empowerment within your community?

The scholarship committees will review the required counselor and teacher letters of recommendation submitted with your Common or Coalition Application. All applications must be submitted by January 2, 2026. Finalists will be notified by the end of February and invited to a virtual interview. Finalists must attend the interview to remain eligible.

Study Abroad Scholarships

Students who choose to study abroad through a WashU-sponsored program during the academic school year may be eligible for scholarships. There are various national scholarships specifically available for students who are planning to study abroad. Students are highly recommended to apply to ALL scholarships for which they are eligible and plan ahead. As students plan their time abroad, they have the opportunity to apply for scholarships funded by study abroad program providers, independent organizations, and the U.S Government.

WashU Continuing & Professional Studies (CAPS) Scholarships

WashU Continuing & Professional Studies (CAPS) students who are enrolled in select degree and certificate programs and take a minimum number of credit hours each semester may be eligible for scholarships. These donor-funded scholarships are made possible through the generous gifts of donors to WashU.

High School Summer Scholars Program

The High School Summer Scholars Program immerses students in the WashU community, allowing them to enroll in undergraduate, credit-bearing courses taught by WashU instructors. The introductory-level curriculum is designed to provide a solid foundation for future undergraduate studies. Participants can customize their program experience by enrolling in one or two credit-bearing courses along with a variety of enriching noncredit offerings.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the High School Summer Scholars Program, applicants should be a current junior in high school (graduating in 2027). The program seeks mature, academically motivated individuals enrolled in challenging curriculum which may include honors, advanced placement, and International Baccalaureate courses, if offered by their high schools. Individuals who are collaborative, intellectually curious, and creative thinkers thrive in the program.

The 2026 program fees for High School Summer Scholars are:

Online fees: $4,075 for one credit-bearing course
Commuter fees: $4,075 for one credit-bearing course; $7,825 for two credit-bearing courses
Residential fees (includes housing and meals): $8,385 for one credit-bearing course; $12,135 for two credit-bearing courses

All fees include enrollment in one noncredit course. Need-based scholarship assistance is available. Children of WashU employees and returning students are eligible for a 10% discount.
