Overcoming Enrollment Challenges

Closed Classes: If a class is full, you'll need to complete an add/drop form.
Curriculum Restrictions: If you're trying to enroll in a class outside your curriculum, the add/drop form is also required.
Prerequisite Issues: If you haven't met the prerequisite requirements for a course, the add/drop form is necessary.

To initiate the process, fill out and sign the add/drop form and request approval from your academic advisor. The form can be submitted as a clear scanned copy or photograph, or you can utilize the Fill & Sign tool in Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Academic Calendar and Key Dates

Vaughn College operates on a semester-based academic calendar. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. However, the preferred application deadline is March 1 for the fall semester.

Admission Requirements and Financial Aid

Vaughn College accepts the Common Application and has a test-optional admissions policy. Undergraduate admission is open to high school graduates, those who have earned the State Equivalency Certificate, and, in some cases, those who qualify for the equivalency certificate upon completion of 24 college credits. As academic and technical requirements vary by degree program, an interview with an undergraduate admissions and financial aid counselor is recommended. Vaughn College may present national school leaving certificates (including: CXC, GCE, “O” and “A” levels, Bagrut, Abitur, IB, Attestat, French Baccalaureate, etc.) for consideration.

Financial Assistance

Vaughn College is committed to assisting students who need help covering college expenses. Eighty-one percent of first-year students receive need-based financial aid, and the average net price for federal loan recipients is $34,735. To determine eligibility, students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Vaughn has scholarships that are awarded based on academics and financial need.

International Students

A minimum score of 77 on the Internet-based format is required for admission consideration. Students who fall below this range will be required to complete an intensive English language program.

Residence Hall Details

The residence hall is open for the 2024-2025 educational year.

Capacity: Approximately 185 residential students.
Availability: Housing is available on a first-come, first-served basis, provided that the student has been admitted to Vaughn College, has submitted a complete student housing application and has paid the $250 housing deposit.
Health Insurance: A photocopy of a health insurance card is required for all resident students on move-in day.
Housing Deposit: A $250 housing deposit is required when completing a housing application. The fee will be kept on file to be used towards any excess damages left in your room upon your move-out. The $250 housing deposit will be refunded if you cancel housing in writing prior to July 1, for the fall semester, or January 1, for the spring semester. After these dates, the deposit is not refunded for housing cancellations.

Move-In Information

In the fall, the residence hall generally opens during the weekend prior to the beginning of classes. However, there are specific move-in dates for new residents versus returning residents, as well as for international students. In the spring and summer semesters, move-in is generally 24 hours before the start of classes.

Flight Simulation Center

Vaughn’s $1 million flight simulator center includes a Frasca 241, three Redbirds and one CRJ-700 Canadair regional jet trainer. These simulators allow students to practice takeoffs, landings and other flight maneuvers. The college offers HEOP. Students must be New York State residents and qualify both academically and financially to be eligible. Work-study is granted through the financial aid office. There are other opportunities for part-time jobs on campus as well as off campus.
