Navigating the UCR Student Health Portal: A Comprehensive Guide to Services and Resources
The University of California, Riverside (UCR) is committed to supporting the overall safety and well-being of its students by providing a wide array of health and wellness resources. The UCR Student Health Portal serves as a central hub for accessing these services, ensuring students have convenient access to medical, mental health, and basic needs support. This article provides a comprehensive overview of the services available through the UCR Student Health Portal and other related resources, designed to help students navigate the system effectively.
Accessing Healthcare Services
Student Health and Counseling Center (SHCC): The primary care clinic at UC Riverside's Student Health and Counseling Center (SHCC), located on the first floor, offers a wide range of primary care services to currently enrolled UCR undergraduate and graduate students. These services include diagnosis and treatment of most acute and chronic disorders, management of injuries, and preventative health services focusing on health maintenance and disease prevention. Students can visit the new SHCC building, adjacent to Lot 21, for physical exams, routine health maintenance, and Education Abroad programs.
The SHCC accepts the University of California’s Student Health Insurance Plan (UCSHIP) and Highlander Care. Students under the age of 18 require a signed parent/guardian consent form to receive treatment at the Student Health and Counseling Center. UCR Student Health Services (SHS) participates in Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) accreditation that involves ongoing self-evaluation, peer review, and education to continuously improve its care and services.
Student Health Services (SHS): Contact SHS for in-person, phone, and virtual health care services, including primary care, vaccinations, and women's health care.
After-Hours Telemedicine: Video-chat with board-certified medical professionals about things like the flu, common colds, and more. Register using your UCSHIP Anthem ID number. Enter your subscriber ID, which can be found on your UCSHIP insurance card, accessible through the StudentHealth mobile app.

Addressing Basic Needs
Basic Needs: Get assistance with basic needs challenges such as food insecurity, housing displacement/homelessness, and financial crises from Basic Needs.
Support for Students with Disabilities
Student Disability Resource Center (SDRC): The SDRC provides a wide range of free, voluntary, and confidential services to regularly enrolled UCR students with permanent or temporary disabilities.

The Well: Contact The Well to take part in health education programming, receive personalized wellness coaching, grab free period products and safer sex supplies, and connect with other students.
Understanding Insurance and Payment
Students who have waived UCSHIP will pay for sessions based on the indicated insurance they have. If your insurance carrier includes LHO as a benefit, you will be charged for the co-pay in your plan. Students may be able to submit their receipts for services to their insurance companies for partial or full reimbursement (you will need to speak to your insurance company to determine if they will cover any or all of these visits). Otherwise, anyone can pay for the services, regardless of insurance. CAPS is not responsible for any changes in costs.
Important Information
