The Master of Science in Digital Forensics degree is a collaborative effort between various UCF academic departments-Computer Science, Forensic Science of Chemistry, Criminal Justice and Legal Studies-and the National Center for Forensic Science. A good digital forensics degree program will cover operating systems like Windows and Linux in depth. An investigator needs to know where the relevant digital artifacts on an operating system-such as the logs, users, groups, services, startup items, and scheduled tasks-are located. Admission Requirements and Program Details
Prerequisites include a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., computer science) from an accredited university and a minimum GPA of 3.0. The University of Central Florida (UCF) is located in Orlando and offers a 30-credit master of science in online digital forensics.
Registration Notes
- All students need to request permission from Ms. Program Advisor, to register for Criminal Justice classes (CCJ or CJE course prefix).
- The prereqisite described in course catalog are not active in most cases.
- The course teaching schedule for each academic year is almost the same, so refer to the current academic year schedule to plan for your future class taken.
Graduation Requirements
A Program of Study (POS) form needs to be on file by the end of the term prior to the term of expected graduation. If a student changes their elective course, he or she needs to re-submit a revised POS form. The form needs to be signed by Program Coordinator.
To register for certain courses, students may need to fill out the following online Special Request Form or online course override dynamic form. After obtaining approval from Dr. Zou, college staff will register the student in the class.

It is the job of the digital forensics investigator to sift through all the acquired digital evidence and report their findings."
