Triton College Blackboard Learn: A Comprehensive Guide
Blackboard Learn is the e-learning platform used at Triton College. This article provides a guide to accessing and utilizing Blackboard Learn, along with information about the various student support services available at Triton College.
Accessing Blackboard Learn
To access Blackboard Learn, you will need a unique username and password. Here's how to find your credentials and log in:
- Username: Your Blackboard username is the last 8 digits of your Photo ID number.
- Locating Your Photo ID Number: To find your Photo ID Number, you will need either your Social Security Number (if on file) or Colleague ID. If you prefer to use your Colleague ID, you can find it in the Student Portal under the Student Self-Service card > User Profile. The Photo ID lookup tool will return your Photo ID Number using either number.
- Password: For most students, the password is the last four digits of their Social Security Number (SSN).
- Logging In: Use your username and password to log in to Blackboard Learn.
- Authentication App: Open your authenticator app for your Triton account to get a six-digit code and click submit.
- Changing Your Password (Recommended): Once you log in for the first time, it is highly recommended that you change your password. Navigate to the “Update My Profile” card and click the "Change Password" link. This will take you to Triton’s Change Password page. Enter your old (current) password, your new password and password confirmation, then click "Submit" to change your password.

Academic Advising
The Academic Advising Department proactively supports and empowers students to develop and achieve their educational and career goals. Advisors are assigned based on a specific curriculum. Advising at Triton College is an interactive partnership between advisors and students. Advisors facilitate a smooth transition for incoming students through course placement, registration, academic planning and assistance with obtaining relevant information and services. Center for Access and Accommodative Services (CAAS)
The Center for Access and Accommodative Services (CAAS) offers Kurzweil (text to speech) and Otter.ai (speech to text) software to all faculty, staff, and enrolled students to enhance learning. They also provide academic accommodations for students who have a diagnosed medical condition and/or disability. Students are encouraged to visit the CAAS webpage for instructions on how to request accommodations. Accommodations are not retroactively approved. Library Resources
The library provides access to textbooks, books, and online resources, including databases, journals, books, magazines, and streaming media. There are four study room, a silent study area, and a computer lab. Students may use their Triton ID to check out materials and scan/print from several library printers. Student Assistance

Transfer Center

TRiO Student Support Services
Retention program focused on minority students. Designed to increase the number of minority students completing programs and degrees at Triton College. Staff provides academic support, one-on-one mentoring and coaching, career exploration and development, community service projects, and assistance transitioning to a four-year institution or workforce. Counseling & Wellness Support Services
Triton College Counseling & Wellness Support Services offers mental health and wellness services. Current students can meet with counselors by appointment regarding various concerns, including managing stress, developing career goals, personal development, and understanding college policies. Open Educational Resources (OER)
OER are "teaching, learning, and research resources that reside in the public domain or have been released under an intellectual property license that permits their free use and re-purposing by others. This starter kit has been created to provide instructors with an introduction to the use and creation of open educational resources (OER). The text is broken into five sections: Getting Started, Copyright, Finding OER, Teaching with OER, and Creating OER. No. Free images, videos and other educational materials still have copyright limitations for reuse and sharing. Resources are open for reuse and sharing when the author specifically gives you permission to redistribute to others, as well as remix and revise the material.
