Understanding Key Periods
- Change of Schedule Period: This is the period at the beginning of each semester or session when students can add or drop courses without academic penalty. It's crucial to finalize your schedule during this time. The last day to drop a course with no grade posted to academic record falls within this period.
- Withdrawal Deadline: After the change of schedule period, students can still withdraw from courses, but a "W" grade will be recorded on their transcript. It is important to be aware of the last day to withdraw from full-term and shorter session courses.
- Holidays and Breaks: The academic calendar includes holidays such as Labor Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Juneteenth, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, and Fall and Spring Breaks. Be aware that the university may be closed or have limited services on these days. For example, Towson University will be closed for Labor Day and Juneteenth. However, during Fall and Spring Breaks, the university remains open, though classes are not in session.
