The Master's University: A Christ-Centered Education

The Master’s University (TMU) stands as an accredited Christian liberal arts university located in Southern California, committed to transforming young people to have an impact for Christ in the world. Since 1927, TMU has held firmly to the sufficiency, inerrancy, and authority of God’s Word, upholding it above all else. The university equips men and women with the knowledge, skills, and convictions necessary to excel in all areas that God calls them to.

A Foundation of Faith and Learning

At TMU, Christ is not simply a topic to be studied; He is Lord over every discipline, and every thought is to be taken captive to Him. This conviction permeates every aspect of the university, from academics to student life and athletics. Every class is taught from a biblical worldview, ensuring that students receive a thorough theological foundation in Scripture and doctrine. All faculty and staff believe an extensive doctrinal statement and commit themselves to instill a biblical worldview in every student.

Uncompromising Commitment to Scripture

TMU teaches that the Bible’s 66 books are the inspired Word of God, absolutely free from error in the original documents, infallible and God-breathed. The university emphasizes that the Bible is the only completely trustworthy source for instruction in faith and practice and that the truths of Scripture remain completely unchanged and fully authoritative from generation to generation. TMU does not endorse old-Earth creationism, theistic evolution, or any other twisting of the biblical creation story. All of TMU’s faculty and staff affirm a literal six-day creation, and this view is taught in the classrooms.

Distinctive Biblical Approach

TMU is one of the few schools in the country to require a statement of faith in Jesus Christ and a pastor’s recommendation for admission. This contrasts with “open enrollment,” which allows students of any faith or no faith to attend. TMU teaches a distinctively biblical approach to counseling, in contrast to psychological or integrational models. The faculty features respected members of the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors.

Academic Programs and Opportunities

TMU students can choose from 25 accredited undergraduate majors, over 150 program options, and over 1,000 course offerings across seven schools. The university offers more than 150 undergraduate, graduate, and online programs, all taught from a biblical worldview. As part of general education at TMU, undergraduate students (except for some transfer students) are required to take a series of six Bible classes: Old Testament Survey I & II, New Testament Survey I & II, and Christian Theology I & II.
