Student View Login Guide: Accessing Your Academic Information
Navigating the online portals that connect students with their academic information can sometimes be confusing. This article provides a comprehensive guide to accessing student views, specifically focusing on StudentVUE and Canvas, two platforms commonly used by educational institutions. We'll cover login procedures, available features, and troubleshooting tips to ensure you can effectively manage your academic journey.
Accessing Synergy StudentVUE
Synergy StudentVUE provides students with a centralized location to view their grades, attendance records, test scores, assignments, and communications from their teachers. Accessing StudentVUE is a straightforward process.
Login Instructions
To access Synergy StudentVUE, follow these steps:
- Navigate to the StudentVUE login page: This can usually be found on your school's website or a designated district portal.
- Enter your Synergy User Name: Your Synergy User Name is your 10-digit Student ID number.
- Enter your Password: Your Password is what you use to log on to TUSD computers and Microsoft Office 365.
Once you have entered your credentials, click the "Login" button to access your StudentVUE account.
New Features and Functionality
StudentVUE has undergone a redesign, offering an improved user experience. While the core functionality remains the same, the updated interface provides a more intuitive way to navigate your academic information. One notable addition is the "Detail" toggle feature. Wherever you see a Detail toggle, you can click it to expand or collapse information, allowing you to focus on the data that is most relevant to you.

Understanding Canvas Student View
Canvas is a learning management system (LMS) that facilitates online learning and communication between instructors and students. As an instructor, you can utilize Student View to see your course from the perspective of a student. This allows you to identify any potential issues with the course layout, content, or assignments.
Enabling and Using Student View
Enabling Student View creates a Test Student in your course. You can access Student View from most areas of the course including: Home, Modules, Assignments, Announcements, Discussions, Quizzes, Pages, Syllabus, and Outcomes. Once you activate Student View, the Test Student is shown at the end of the Gradebook and SpeedGrader and is automatically added to every section in your course.
To use Student View:
- Navigate to the Canvas course you want to view.
- Click the "Student View" button, typically located in the course settings or navigation menu.
- You can now view the course as a student user would see it.
You can exit Student View by clicking the "Leave Student View" button.

Resetting the Test Student
You can reset Test Student data at any time; however, Test Student activity that involves interactions with other students cannot be removed, such as discussion replies. To reset the Test Student, click Reset Student. For example, if you created an assignment and submitted it as the Test Student but then forgot to add a certain submission type, you can click the Reset Student button and submit the assignment again as the Test Student.
Limitations of the Test Student
While Student View provides a valuable way to preview your course, certain features are not fully functional for the Test Student. Specifically, attendance, conferences, conversations inbox, collaborations, differentiated assignments, external apps, groups, peer reviews, and profiles do not work for the Test Student. New Quizzes assessments should be previewed in New Quizzes and not taken as the test student. Each Canvas course has a separate Test Student account. You can only view the course layout as it is seen by your students.
Additional Resources and Support
ParentVUE Access
ParentVUE provides parents and guardians with access to their student's information. Parents of elementary students will have access to attendance, report cards, their student's current IEP, progress reports and school announcements. If you don't see all of your students when you login to ParentVUE, you may need to contact your school's administration for assistance.
Online Enrollment and Updates
Many school districts offer online enrollment and update services. Select the Updates/Enrollment tab. Residential address changes are done on the Family window. Proof of residential address is required, such as a utility bill or lease agreement. This can be scanned and uploaded within the Updates/Enrollment steps or you can deliver the document to your student's school. Families with a new student living outside of Bend-La Pine Schools boundaries cannot be enrolled using Online Enrollment.
Time Zone Settings
When accessing online platforms, it's important to select the appropriate time zone. For West Coast USA students, select Pacific Daylight Time (America/Los_Angeles). For Central USA Students, select Central Daylight Time (America/Chicago). For Mountain USA students, select Mountain Daylight Time (America/Denver).
