Yonkers, New York: Teacher Sentenced for Sexual Relationship with Student
In a particularly egregious case, Sandy Carazas-Pinez, a high school teacher at a school in Yonkers, New York, was sentenced for engaging in a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student. District Judge John P. Attorney Jay Clayton emphasized the severity of the crime, stating, “Sandy Carazas-Pinez betrayed her role and, through explicit texts and other means, coerced a 16-year-old into a sexual relationship. Actions of this type by anyone, particularly a teacher or other person of trust, will not be tolerated.”
According to court documents, the abuse occurred from approximately November 2022 through February 2023. Carazas-Pinez singled out the minor victim for personal attention and induced the student into a sexual relationship by creating the illusion of romance. She used her personal cellphone to communicate with the student, arranging sexual encounters and inducing the minor victim to engage in live-streamed sexually explicit conduct.
The court documents revealed that Carazas-Pinez referred to these encounters and live depictions as "gifts" in text messages. She also sent sexually suggestive photographs and explicit text messages to the student, instructing the minor victim to delete them afterward. To facilitate meetings outside of school, Carazas-Pinez directed the student to obtain day passes and met the minor victim at a location near the school’s campus before driving the minor victim to other locations. Sexual intercourse and other sexual acts occurred in Carazas-Pinez’s car at various locations, including in the Bronx, Yonkers, and Staten Island.
Carazas-Pinez, 36, of Bethel, Connecticut, was sentenced to a prison term and five years of supervised release.

Cave City, Kentucky: Substitute Teacher Arrested for Online Solicitation
In Kentucky, a substitute teacher named Krystal Sims, 30, of Cave City, was arrested after allegedly exposing herself during a video chat with an underage student as part of a plan to meet for sex. The Barren County Sheriff’s Office received a tip that Sims had communicated with the boy to arrange a sexual encounter.
The student told investigators that he met Sims while she was working as a substitute teacher in his class and that she accepted a friend request he sent her on Snapchat. They began discussing plans to meet in Cave City for sex on August 22. The student provided deputies with a recording of a call from that day in which a female voice, allegedly Sims, asked if he was coming to meet her. The conversation then turned into a video call, during which the boy said Sims appeared in the shower with her breasts exposed.
During an interview, Sims admitted to being the woman in the recorded call but claimed she only agreed to meet the student so he could apologize for his behavior in class. She denied that anything physical occurred. Sims was charged with unlawfully using electronic communication to solicit, procure, or promote a child for sexual activity or other prohibited acts. She was released on a $25,000 cash bond and is scheduled to appear in court.

According to an arrest warrant, the 5-year-old female student stated that Priest grabbed her arm and made her sit down while she was trying to get a paper from another classmate. The student also stated she was crying during the incident and told another teacher about it during recess. Injuries consistent with a hand grab imprint were documented by the school nurse.
Priest denied causing the student's injury and told Collin County Sheriff's Office investigators that she used a "re-direct" technique on the student because the student would not rotate to the next station when asked. Priest demonstrated the technique, describing it as a hand-over-hand movement.
Anna Independent School District stated, "Anna ISD remains committed to maintaining a safe learning environment for all students. The alleged actions of this individual do not reflect the standards or values of our District."
Priest has been charged with injury to a child with bodily injury and was released on bond. The child's mother wants to ensure that the former teacher never steps foot in a classroom again.
