She’s becoming more comfortable putting herself out there and has gained plenty of experience taking a chance. Rodriguez took a chance and reached out to the SEU Athletics to help revamp their social media. There was no job posting; this was just something she felt passionate about and so she created the job for herself.
This internship has also taught Rodriguez to use new tools to better her work. “What I didn't really know until working with SXSW is that I like to look for constructive criticism,” Rodriguez said. “So being able to ask my boss and my peers, ‘What do you think about this?’ Is something that I never even thought of. I’d be scared to raise my hand in class. Now I'm like, okay, I actually have to ask this question.”

SXSW internships foster connections and provide insights for future career journeys. As she prepares for the festival, Rodriguez is excited to meet some talent and see what her hard work has led to. She’s also looking forward to shadowing different parts of the festival, meeting the PR team for SXSW and watching Meghan Maroney perform.

Eligibility Requirements
Progress toward a degree, major, or minor relevant to the internship. May not have an undergraduate graduation date before the start of the internship unless already enrolled in a full-time graduate degree program at the time of application. Put your latest graduation date possible when you apply. For example, a May 2026 graduation date isn't eligible for a post-graduation internship in the summer of 2026. However, if you're a May 2026 undergrad completion but a May 2027 master's program completion, then you'd use your May 2024 graduation date for eligibility. To be eligible, you must be currently enrolled as a full-time student as defined by your university at the time of application.
