STLCC offers accessible education with straightforward tuition policies. Residents of St. Louis City, St. Louis County, and St. Charles County are eligible for resident tuition rates. An adult student who has established residence within the St. Louis district also qualifies. To prove residency, documentation must be provided before the start of the semester.

High school students taking classes through dual enrollment pay a significantly reduced rate per credit hour. The enrollment services team at STLCC is available to help students navigate the enrollment process and understand tuition benefits.

SLCC Nursing Program

The SLCC Nursing Program is a selective admission program that takes 18 months to complete once accepted. It is a year-round program with 12-week trimesters. The SLCC nursing program prepares students to sit for the NCLEX exam to be licensed as a registered nurse (RN).

Be admitted to SLCC as a matriculated student.
Submit official, sealed transcripts for ALL colleges and universities where prerequisite course work has been completed. Send to: SLCC Office of the Registrar and Academic Records, 4600 South Redwood Road, P.O. Box 30808, Salt Lake City, UT 84130.
Submit a request to have an official evaluation of student’s transcript(s) to the SLCC Transfer Evaluation Office.

Specific information will be provided to accepted students by program faculty regarding testing sites approved by SLCC for both drug-screening tests and criminal background checks.

Criminal Background Checks and Compliance

The clinical placement agencies make the final determination about accepting students for placement in their facility and may decline students based on their criminal background record. Students who do not receive favorable background checks may not be able to sit for national certification exams or meet the requirements for clinical placement.

Immunization Requirements

Proof of immunization is required by clinical affiliates and must be completed upon acceptance into the program. Clinical affiliates mandate that all students comply with program immunization requirements, as failure to immunize is not only a risk to patients but also to students. Failure to immunize may result in the inability to place students at clinical sites, precluding students from completing required clinical coursework.

Required Immunizations:

Influenza vaccination: Required annually between September 1 and October 31, or submit a signed exemption request form during the same period.
Tuberculosis Blood Test: Required annually. Proof of a negative 2-step PPD or QuantiFERON TB Gold test. If positive or if a past test was positive, student must submit a negative chest x-ray.
Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis (Tdap) Booster: Tdap booster is good for 10 years. TD will be given subsequent to Tdap.
Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR): Two doses are needed or positive titer on all three.
Varicella (Chicken Pox): Two immunizations or proof of positive titer.
Hepatitis B vaccination series: Must provide proof of a HEP B Surface Anti-body Titer HBsAB that proves immunity.
Hepatitis A vaccination series: Highly recommended but not required. Two-dose series or a positive titer.

Advanced Placement Admissions Process (LPN to RN)

SLCC offers an Advanced Placement option for students who have completed a practical nursing program and are licensed as a practical nurse in Utah. The following admission criteria must be met:

Be admitted to SLCC as a matriculated student.
High School Graduate or equivalent.
Submit transcripts from ALL colleges and universities where prerequisite coursework has been completed. This process may take 4-6 weeks and must be completed before a student’s application will be considered. Transcripts must be sent to the Transcript Evaluation Office by March 15 for the Fall session or by August 1 for the Spring session.
All general education and Nursing Program Co-requisite courses classes must be completed with a “C” or better.
Complete NRSG 1230 Pathophysiology with at least C+ or better.
Copy of Unencumbered LPN /LVN License: The license must be currently valid for use in the State of Utah, and in good standing.

SLCC trains nurses who are prepared to accept employment. Graduates will get licensed by passing the NCLEX exam. Additionally, 2+2 pathways offer students the opportunity to complete the first half of a bachelor’s degree program. After earning an associate degree, students can seamlessly transfer to a partnering university to complete the second half of the chosen pathway, leading to their bachelor’s degree.

Cost of Attendance at SLCC

Tuition and Fees

The estimated average full cost of instruction and fees for a 15-credit-hour (full-time) semester at Salt Lake Community College is \$7,290. The portion resident students are responsible for paying, known as tuition and fees or full “sticker price”, is \$2,271. Tuition and fees account for approximately 31% of the full cost of instruction and fee services.

Payment Policies

A \$75 late payment fee and a \$50 collection fee will be charged to student accounts with unpaid tuition and fees. Holds will be placed on registration, grades, and graduation. Current semester tuition holds are automatically removed 24 hours after tuition is paid in full.

Non-Resident Students

Non-resident Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE) Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) students pay a reduced WICHE WUE rate. Through the WUE program, non-residents of 15 western states are eligible to attend SLCC at a reduced-tuition rate while maintaining residency within their home state.
