The Internship Experience
The Second Dinner internship program is designed to provide hands-on experience and contribute to the studio's ongoing success. The internship duration is approximately 12 to 13 weeks. The AI/ML Engineer Intern role is fully remote. However, those local to the Irvine HQ have opportunities to work from the office.

The AI team at Second Dinner is focused on researching, developing, and deploying cutting-edge AI technology. Their goal is to transform not only how games are made but also what is imaginable in game development. The team is constantly exploring new technologies and collaborating with other teams to find the best applications across the company, rapidly prototyping and iterating on new ideas.
Role of the AI/ML Engineer Intern
As an AI/ML Engineer Intern, you’ll have the opportunity to work with the AI team for Second Dinner. Reporting to the VP of Data & AI, your work will be focused on identifying and building applications for emerging technologies from the AI field and will go through the process from ideation and research to prototyping and development.

Responsibilities
The AI/ML Engineer Intern will be involved in:
- Ideating on novel applications of AI research to the game development space
- Conducting research on relevant techniques and technologies
- Working with the AI team to build and iterate on prototypes of your project
- Presenting and sharing your work both to the AI team and other members of the company
- Collaborating with various teams across Second Dinner
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be considered for the AI/ML Engineer Intern position, candidates should possess the following:
- Experience programming
- Strong understanding of AI models such as Large Language Models, Diffusion Networks, or Deep Reinforcement Learning methods
- Growth mindset, passion for learning new technologies and skills
- Awesome technical and personal communication skills
- Excitement to build out new applications for emerging technology to create the best games
Desirable Skills (Not Required)
While not mandatory, the following skills are considered a plus:
- Strong experience in Python
- Research experience in AI
- Experience modifying, fine tuning, and adapting deep learning models
- Currently pursuing an advanced degree in a related field (machine learning, computer science, data science, etc.)
- Experience in game development
- Experience with Git or other version control systems
Additional Requirements
Applicants must also meet the following requirements:
- Currently enrolled at a university or college in a Master's or PhD program
- Eligible to work in the United States
Compensation and Benefits
The compensation for the AI/ML Engineer Intern position is \$50/HR - \$55/HR.
