Accreditation and Approvals
Reid State Technical College holds full accreditation from the Accrediting Commission of the Council on Occupational Education. The Practical Nursing program has the approval of the Alabama Board of Nursing, and the Cosmetology program is approved by the Alabama State Board of Cosmetology. All educational programs receive approval from the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees. Programs of Study
RSTC offers a variety of programs of study designed to meet the needs of the regional workforce. The college awards degrees and certificates in six different fields. Popular programs include Industrial Electronics Technology/Technician, Administrative Assistant and Secretarial Science, General, and Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse Training.
Workforce Development Scholarship for Dual Enrollment Programs
High school students have the opportunity to get a head start on their careers through RSTC's dual enrollment programs. The Workforce Development Scholarship assists qualifying students with funding to help defray the cost of dual enrollment in technical education areas. This scholarship, made available through the Alabama Future Workforce Initiative (AFWI), covers tuition, books, and supplies.

Eligibility Criteria:
- Complete the Dual Enrollment Admission Packet.
- Be enrolled in the 10th, 11th, or 12th grade.
- Maintain a High School GPA of 2.0 or higher.
- Submit a High School Transcript Documenting Required GPA.
- Submit Photo ID, a copy of Kuder or Career Assessment, and a High School 4-year plan.
- Submit a copy of Entrance Exam or ACT score for 12th-grade students or students enrolling in academic courses.
WIOA Youth Program
The WIOA Youth Program at Reid State Technical College serves out-of-school individuals, ages 16-24, in Conecuh, Escambia, Monroe, and Wilcox Counties. The program aims to empower the future of the workforce by assisting participants in overcoming barriers to attaining their education, training, employment, and career goals.
Participants can earn at least one certification, such as Forklift, NCCER Core, and the Career Readiness Certificate, while developing employability, on-the-job, and life skills. Many students will also have the opportunity to participate in PAID Work-Based Learning. The WIOA Youth Program partners with community organizations and business and industry members to reach the most in-need and at-risk individuals. The WIOA Youth Program is federally funded through the Workforce Investment and Opportunity Act, The Alabama Department of Labor, and the Southwest Alabama Partnership for Training and Employment (SWAPTE).

Adult Education/GED Preparation
Reid State Technical College's Adult Education program assists adults with earning their GED or High School Diploma. It also provides opportunities for students to develop skills for employment, improving academic skills in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics, and preparation for college entrance exams. Students may also enroll in Adult Education classes to improve basic computer skills and prepare for WorkKeys.
The Adult Education student is given an assessment test that will determine initial educational functioning level and readiness to take the GED test. As a result, students will receive an individualized education plan designed to help them achieve their educational goals. Students who perform well academically may be eligible for financial assistance in paying for the GED test.
Adult Education classes are available free of charge. Classes are offered day and night on a year-round basis, and schedules are adapted to meet the needs of the individual learner.

GED Testing Information
Reid State Technical College is an Official Testing Center offering the GED Test. The GED Test is delivered entirely online and administered on Reid State’s Main Campus in Building 100, Testing Center.
The GED Test measures what graduating high school seniors know and what colleges and employers will expect of you.
- Four (4) parts:
- Science (90 minutes)
- Social Studies (90 minutes)
- Reasoning Through Language Arts (150 minutes including a 10-minute break)
- Mathematical Reasoning (90 minutes)
Qualifications:
Must be 18 years of age and officially withdrawn from high school. Underage candidates (16 or 17 year olds) must turn in all required documentation to the GED testing center.
Testing Dates: GED tests are administered on the last Wednesday and Thursday of each month.
Location: Reid State Technical College Testing Lab located in Building 100.

Cost:
The cost of the test is $30.00 per subject or $120.00 for the complete exam. There are four subject areas which may be taken individually as the candidate chooses. Candidates must register, schedule and pay online at www.ged.com or call 1-877-EXAMGED (1-877-392-6433). Credit and debit cards are acceptable forms of payment.
Identification: Valid driver’s license or any government-issued photo identification.
Placement Assessment Policy
All applicants to Reid State Technical College are required to take the Placement Test. This test is administered at both the Evergreen Campus and the Atmore Campus. Photo ID is required!
Exemption:
Students who have taken the ACT and scores 18 or higher in English, and 20 or higher in Mathematics will be exempt from taking the placement test. Scores cannot be older than five years. Copies of the ACT documenting these scores must be provided to the Admissions Office prior to taking the test and registration.
Students can be placed into Math and English courses based on the high school transcripts with a GPA of 2.75 or higher and a “C” or higher in the appropriate high school class. High school transcripts used to determine placement cannot be older than five years.
Students must complete an Application for Admission BEFORE taking the placement test.
The placement test is not timed, and scores are delivered immediately upon completion of the assessment. These scores will be placed into your student record and used to determine placement into the appropriate Math and English courses.
There is no fee for the first test. Any student wishing to challenge their placement score may retest once per academic year, provided the student can show proof that test preparation has taken place. The fee associated with retesting is $10.00.
2021-2022 Placement Assessment Schedule:
- Atmore Campus: Accuplacer Testing is offered weekly on Tuesdays at 11:00 am. To schedule testing, contact Ms. Rowell at 251-368-0166.
- Evergreen Campus: Accuplacer Testing is offered weekly, Monday through Thursday from 8:30 am-3:00 pm in the Testing Lab located in Building 100. To schedule testing, contact Ms. Simpkins at 251-578-1313 ext. 149.

Financial Aid
The 2021-2022 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available online at www.fafsa.gov. Students planning to enroll are encouraged to apply for financial aid at the earliest possible date.
To receive a Pell Grant for the Summer 2022 semester, the 2021-2022 FAFSA must be received by the Financial Aid Office from the Department of Education by April 15, 2022. If a student has completed the FAFSA Application and is selected for verification, all required documents must be received in the Financial Aid Office and corrections made, if necessary, by April 30, 2022.
The FAFSA must be received in the Financial Aid Office at RSTC by the priority dates listed. Applications processed after the priority date may result in a delay in receiving financial aid. Tuition and fees must be paid before the first day of class. Charges for tuition and fees may be applied online to financial aid. If no, financial aid is available, students are responsible for paying the tuition and fees before attending any class.
At Reid State Technical College, a significant percentage of undergraduates receive grant or scholarship aid.
