Coaching and Team Dynamics
Patrick Wennin, Head Coach, graduated from Westminster in 2012. He played college football at Maryville College and completed his degree at FIU before beginning his coaching career at Westminster. He also coached at LaSalle and Miami Palmetto before joining the Barcelona Dragons in the European League of Football as Assistant Head Coach, Offensive Coordinator, and Special Teams Coordinator. His 2021 team set a record for most offensive points in a single ELF game, and he was a finalist for the 2021 Assistant Coach of the Year.
The Knights, with six games remaining until the district tournament, are gaining momentum after defeating Orlando Dr. Phillips. The team includes juniors Kyle Robertson, Aaron Jackson, William Rodriguez, Lucas Neves, Leo Pereira, Kyle Freitas, Jonathan Weber, and Tom Popovics, as well as seniors Jordan Alfasa, Luiz Padredi, and Issac Bertho. Bertho is a starter from the soccer team. The remainder of the team consists mostly of athletes who have been playing since they were freshmen.

Coach Drexl, who established the boys' program in August 2003, enjoys challenging his team against tougher opponents from around the state. The boys' team is one of the athletic program's top teams, and the decision to schedule more competitive teams was made as the program advanced to a higher level. The Knights secured their first district and region titles last year, marking their debut in the state tournament.
Drexl believed in the team's potential, stating that some players simply needed to elevate their game. He highlighted the semifinal game against Dr. Phillips as their best performance, noting the evenly matched contest and the confidence boost it provided to the players. According to Drexl, Sean, his son, is a terrific setter and one of the best players in the state. Coaching his son is interesting, as he is a dedicated student of the game.
