Rachaad White: From College Standout to NFL Running Back

Rachaad White (born January 12, 1999) is an American professional football running back for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League (NFL). His journey to the NFL is marked by perseverance and success at multiple collegiate levels.

Early Life and High School

Rachaad White grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, and attended Center High School.

College Career

White's college career began at the University of Nebraska at Kearney, where he redshirted as a true freshman. Following that season, he transferred to Mt. San Antonio College.

After his time at Nebraska-Kearney, White transferred to Mt. San Antonio College.

Arizona State University

White transferred to Arizona State University (ASU) prior to the 2020 season, marking a significant step in his football career.

2020 Season

In his first season with the Sun Devils, White made an immediate impact. He rushed for 420 yards with five touchdowns on 42 carries. He also demonstrated his versatility by catching eight passes for 151 yards and one touchdown. Notably, he was the first Arizona State player since 1949 to lead the team in both rushing and receiving yards.

2021 Season

As a senior, White continued to excel. He rushed for 1,006 yards and 15 touchdowns on 182 carries. In the passing game, he caught 43 passes for 456 yards and one touchdown. A standout performance came on November 6 against USC, where he had 28 carries for 202 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns.

College Statistics and Analysis

Rachaad White's time at Arizona State was characterized by explosive plays and high efficiency. While it's difficult to parse the Sun Devil running backs as Herm Edwards built a deep and talented backfield, White stood out among the pack. Last season he had 42 carries for 420 yards and five touchdowns and caught all eight of his targets for 151 yards and a score. White carried the ball 21 times for 98 yards and a touchdown in a 38-15 win over Arizona. In a 24-10 loss to Oregon State, White carried the ball 15 times for 39 yards.

NFL Career

White was selected by the Buccaneers in the third round of the 2022 NFL draft.

2022 Season

White made his NFL debut in Week 1 against the Dallas Cowboys. He scored his first NFL touchdown on a one-yard rush against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 4. In Week 10, against the Seattle Seahawks, he got the start and had 22 carries for 105 rushing yards in the 21-16 victory. In a Week 13 matchup against the New Orleans Saints, quarterback Tom Brady threw a touchdown pass to White with three seconds remaining to complete a 13-point comeback and for White's first professional touchdown reception. Overall, White finished the 2022 season with 129 carries for 481 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown to go along with 50 receptions for 290 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns.
