Free April Programs for Osher Members
The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Boise State University extends a warm invitation to Osher members from other institutes to participate in a selection of April programs offered at no charge. All times mentioned are Mountain Time (MT).
- The National Synchrotron Light Source II: This lecture explores the use of X-rays in modern science, from their discovery to their application in state-of-the-art facilities. Dr. Juergen Thieme, Adjunct Professor, Department of Geosciences, Stony Brook University, presents this lecture.
- History of Public Health: Delving into the history of public health and its impact on population health, this lecture reviews the evolution of theories of disease causation. The presenter is a Professor, Department of Public Health and Population Science, Boise State University.
- Protecting Your Digital Information: This lecture provides an overview of essential knowledge for safeguarding digital information. Toby King, Chief Information Officer, CapEd Credit Union, covers device management, password management, and best practices.

OLLI is more than just a collection of courses; it's a thriving community where members connect, learn, and grow together. Participants appreciate the social aspect of OLLI, finding it to be a place with an abundance of goodwill. The administration and management team are full of goodwill towards the members, the presenters are providing valuable information and education. Members also feel connected to each other and back towards the administration.

- Rock ‘n Roll: An historical perspective of the birth of Rock ‘n Roll in the mid-1950s, exploring its origins, key figures, and societal impact.

- The National Synchrotron Light Source II at Brookhaven National Laboratory: Researchers use this light and X-rays to advance our knowledge in a wide range of scientific areas, such as life sciences, energy storage, nuclear and environmental sciences, and geology and planetary sciences.

Dr. Richard Klautsch, a Professor of Theatre Arts at Boise State, has played a significant role in expanding the university's offerings in the creative arts. As chair of the Department of Theatre, Film, and Creative Writing, he oversaw the introduction of five new undergraduate degrees in Film and Creative Writing.
