Key Services and Support

The Office of the Registrar provides a wide array of essential services, addressing various needs of students and faculty. Our supportive staff assists with class registration, records, transfer credit information, and much more. These services include:

  • Registration Assistance: Records and Registration will register students each semester for their required courses. The Registrar's Office provides guidance and support during the registration process, assisting students in selecting courses, resolving registration issues, and understanding registration policies. We also collaborate with faculty on grading processes, class schedules and room reservations, registration overrides and other administrative functions.
  • Academic Records Management: The Registrar's Office maintains accurate and secure academic records for all students, including transcripts, enrollment information, and degree audits.
  • Transcript Services: A transcript is a complete account of each student’s academic history at OUWB. Students can request official transcripts through the Registrar Service Portal.
  • Enrollment and Degree Verification: Requests for letters (academic standing, enrollment verification, graduation, etc.) may be completed through the completion of the letter request form. The Registrar's Office provides official verification of student enrollment and degrees for various purposes, such as employment, graduate school applications, and loan deferments.
  • Transfer Credit Evaluation: Oakland University welcomes more than 1,000 transfer students every year, and the number is growing. The Registrar's Office evaluates transfer credits from other institutions to determine their applicability to Oakland University degree programs.
  • Graduation Application and Degree Conferral: Application for GraduationYour graduation is the ultimate goal of your education at OCU. The filing of the graduation application will provide the university with information regarding the completion of your graduation requirements. Degrees are conferred around the first of June after final degree audits are completed by Oakland University and approved by the Board of Trustees.

  • SAIL (Student Administration Information Link): Changes in personal information may be submitted online via sail.oakland.edu. OUWB students may submit their address changes online through the secure SAIL system under the Personal Information section. The SAIL system allows convenient 24/7 online access while keeping your information safe and secure through the password protected system.
  • Registrar Service Portal: For information regarding transcripts, records, registration, verification and more, please visit the Registrar Service Portal. For faster turnaround and issue tracking open a case through our Registrar Service Portal.
  • Online Forms: Electronic forms are utilized for various processes. An electronic form will be provided to each class annually for completion electronically. Duplicate copies of the diploma may be requested with the completion of the duplicate diploma request form.

Addressing Key Processes

Personal Information Updates

Students also may change their legal name in person with Records and Registration located in the CMSS suite. To ensure accurate records, students are responsible for updating their personal information, such as address and name changes, with the Registrar's Office.

Transfer Student Admission Criteria

Oakland University has specific criteria for transfer student admission. 24 or more college credits: GPA of at least 2.5 will be considered for admission to Oakland University. Admission of individuals whose formal education has been interrupted for three or more years, and who would not normally meet other admission criteria, may be considered based on one or more of the following: sustained employment record; recommendations from employers, educators or other professionals; and standardized test results.

Transfer Agreements

Oakland City University seeks to advancing education and knowledge and to facilitate the transfer of credits between institutions, OCU has entered into formal agreements with participating institutions and organizations. These formal agreements are joint partnerships between an academic program at OCU and an academic program at the community college.

Diploma Information

OUWB does not maintain copies of student diplomas. Duplicate diplomas can be requested via the appropriate form.

Course Registration

Winter classes begin January 6. Records and Registration will register students each semester for their required courses.
