Navigating Student Employment Opportunities at Notre Dame

The Office of Student Employment at the University of Notre Dame plays a crucial role in supporting students' educational goals by connecting them with part-time employment opportunities. These opportunities not only help students meet personal expenses but also provide valuable work experience and skill development. Approximately 45 percent of Notre Dame undergraduates are employed on campus annually, with many averaging 6-7 hours of work per week. This article serves as a guide to understanding and navigating the landscape of student employment at Notre Dame.

The JOBboard: Your Gateway to On-Campus Employment

The JOBboard serves as a central hub for academic year employment opportunities, connecting Notre Dame students with various university departments and affiliated employers. It's important to note that while the university strongly encourages departments to post all on-campus positions on the JOBboard, not all positions are listed there. The JOBboard is regularly updated as new positions become available, so students should check it frequently. Jobs are not assigned, and students must contact the employer directly to apply for a position.

Federal Work-Study

Students with Federal Work-Study eligibility have the option to work either for a community service agency or on campus. Student positions under the Community Service tab are exclusively for students who have an offer of Federal Work-Study as part of their Financial Aid Offer.

Finding Your Place: A Student's Responsibility

Students are responsible for finding their own positions, as jobs are not assigned. All open positions are listed on the studentjobs.nd.edu job board throughout the year. It is recommended that all students review the New Student Employee Guide to understand the eligibility requirements and I-9 process through Human Resources. For student employment opportunities and more information, visit studentjobs.nd.edu.

Background Checks and Job Posting Discretion

The Office of Student Employment does not perform background checks on students applying for jobs or employers posting job opportunities. All job listings are posted at the discretion of the Office of Student Employment. The office does not post jobs that appear to discriminate against applicants based on race, color, religion, creed, age, national origin, veteran status, sexual orientation, disability, or gender. The office makes no representations or guarantees about positions posted. It is not responsible for safety, wages, working conditions, or any other aspect of off-campus employment.
