Unlocking Opportunities: A Comprehensive Guide to NMSU Alumni Association Benefits

The New Mexico State University (NMSU) Alumni Association offers a diverse array of benefits designed to foster a strong connection between the university, its alumni, current students, and the wider community. These benefits extend beyond graduation, providing alumni with opportunities for personal and professional growth, access to university resources, and avenues to support the institution's future.

Access to Fitness and Recreation

AggieFit Program: NMSU alumni can maintain a healthy lifestyle through the AggieFit program, which provides access to U-Rec facilities and a wide range of activities. This includes NMSU aquatics, fitness programs, intramural sports, and outdoor adventures. AggieFit operates on a membership basis, without subscriptions, taxes, or hidden fees.

Daily Guest Passes: Alumni can also purchase daily guest passes to the AggieFit facilities for $10 each at the AggieFit Office, located in the Activity Center, room 230. Note that guest passes are exclusively available to individuals aged 18 and above and are not valid for intramural activities.

Library Access and Interlibrary Loan Services

Townsend Library Resources: NMSU Alumni Association members gain access to the resources of the Dr. Townsend Library, including interlibrary loan (ILL) services. This service enables eligible alumni to obtain materials not available in the NMSU Library collection and provides materials from the collection to other libraries and research centers.

Eligibility: Alumni with proof of current NMSU Alumni Association membership are eligible for interlibrary loan services.

Interlibrary Loan Procedures: - Faculty, staff, and students can use the "Request It!" service. First-time users need to create an account using their my.nmus.edu username and password.

  • There is no limit to the number of requests allowed, but internal prioritization may occur during peak research periods.
  • Turnaround time varies depending on the material format, location, shipping method, and time of year, with an estimated wait time of at least 10 days.
  • For materials found in the card catalog at another NMSU library, patrons can click the hyperlink next to ‘Request’ and complete the form.
  • Returnable materials can be picked up at the circulation desk during regular library hours. Non-returnable materials are typically provided electronically and are available for 15 days.

Fees and Responsibilities: - Library staff will attempt to obtain materials at no charge by utilizing fair use, open-access resources, and resource-sharing agreements.

  • In some cases, cost-recovery charges may apply if copyright limits are reached or if requests are filled by fee-based external institutions. Patrons will be informed of any fees before the request is processed and can cancel the request if they wish.
  • Patrons are responsible for any charges imposed by the lending library for lost, non-returned, or damaged materials, including overdue fines. Library privileges will be suspended for patrons with overdue or unreturned materials until the issue is resolved.

External Requests: Requests from outside NMSU library facilities are possible. Contact the ILL point of contact for the proper procedures.

Tailgate Events

The NMSU Foundation and NMSU Alumni have partnered with NMSU Athletics and the Goal Line Club to host fall football tailgate events.

Goal Line Club Membership: NMSU alumni and friends can join the Goal Line Club to gain access to all six Goal Line Club home-game tailgates and away-game watch parties. Tailgates are exclusive to members and begin three hours before kickoff in the Pan American Center parking lot.

Membership Benefits: Membership starts at $125 annually and includes two credentials for access to all home-game tailgates. Increased giving levels offer additional benefits.

Purpose: The Goal Line Club provides the NMSU Football program with funding for student-athletes to succeed on and off the field.
