College Career at William & Mary

Dorka continued his football career at The College of William and Mary, an NCAA Division 1 school, where he red-shirted his freshman year. Professional Career

Like many college athletes, Nick realized his chances of going pro in the big leagues weren’t likely to work out. After his time at William & Mary, Dorka pursued professional football opportunities. Nick’s CFL profile indicates he was a free agent who once played for the Montreal Alouettes. He also spent time in the Indoor Football League, kicking for the Bismarck Bucks in North Dakota in 2022. His longest field goal there was 24 yards. The CFL is the Canadian Football League, Canada’s highest professional level of “American” style football.

Personal Life & Influences

Nick Dorka is the son of Nicholas and Lilian Dorka. He enjoys playing golf (2 handicap), mentoring young kickers and working out and is a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. Dorka credits his parents for instilling important values in him. He says his Dad taught him how to present himself as a confident young man and understanding exactly what I want and how to go get it, and the necessary work it takes in order to achieve my goals and aspirations. He also expresses a belief in the importance of faith, stating that God has his way of teaching no matter the environment or scenario.

Dorka's athletic background extends beyond football. Growing up he played baseball, basketball, soccer, and even track. Surprisingly, I had never played football until freshmen year of high school, but I’ve taken the skills I’ve learned throughout my athletic career and implemented them into how I perform on the football field. He emphasizes the importance of self-belief and preparation, stating that before every game I look into the mirror and see the only person who can hold myself back, the only person who can prevent myself from being great and helping the team to victory. I look into the mirror and expect to win and even though there’s a team across the field waiting to compete, the primary competition is myself. You may succeed if nobody else believes in you, but you will never succeed if you don’t believe in yourself. He admires Justin Tucker, a kicker in the NFL, for his skill, work ethic, morals, and ability to perform under pressure.
