Navigating Tuition Payments at North Carolina A&T State University
Paying for college is a significant undertaking, and understanding the available payment options is crucial for students and their families. This article provides a comprehensive overview of tuition payment policies and procedures at North Carolina A&T State University, designed to help students manage their financial obligations effectively.
Official Enrollment and Payment Responsibility
Students are officially enrolled at North Carolina A&T State University once all tuition, housing, meals, applicable charges, and fees have been paid in full. It is the student's responsibility to ensure full payment of all debts to the University by the published due date for each term. This includes any additional tuition charges resulting from course additions during the drop/add period. Failure to pay these additional charges will result in cancellation of registration for the added course(s). Conversely, students who drop courses during the drop/add period and are entitled to a tuition reduction will receive a refund if the transaction is made before the last day to drop and receive financial credit. Students should regularly check their student accounts for any additional charges.

North Carolina A&T State University utilizes electronic billing (E-Bill), delivering billing statements online through its payment system. This paperless billing and online payment system is environmentally friendly and reduces costs. The E-Bill statement reflects charges and credits applied to a student's account as of the Bill Date.

Payment Plan Details
- Monthly Payment Amounts: The amount of your payments depends on the balance of your student account at the time you enroll in the plan. The balance on the account will be divided evenly between the number of months within the plan.
- Convenience Fee: There is a 3% convenience fee for payments submitted by credit/debit card.
- Payment Submission: Payments must be submitted each month by the payee of the payment plan.
- Past Due Balance Hold: Any payments received after the due date or left unpaid will generate a Past Due Balance Hold on the student account until the payments are up to date.
- Payment Due Dates: For example, if enrolled in December, payments are due on the 1st of each month, specifically on January 1, February 1, March 1, and April 1, 2026. If enrolled in January, the enrollment fee and the first payment are due at the time of enrollment.
Enrollment Fee
If an enrollment fee is due, the amount of the fee is indicated when setting up your agreement (typically $40 if enrolled in December or January). If applicable, the nonrefundable Nelnet enrollment fee will be automatically processed within 14 days of the agreement being posted to the Nelnet system.
Making Changes to Your Payment Plan
Any changes to payment dates or amounts may need to be approved by the school, and the school will then need to notify Nelnet. If your school allows online changes to the payment date, the option will be available after you log in. You may also call toll-free at 866.441.4637 or contact your school office to update financial information. The person listed on the agreement must be an authorized signer on the new account.
Missed Payments
If you miss a payment, you will receive a notice from us with instructions on how the missed or returned payment will be handled. You may also be assessed a $30 returned-payment fee for each attempt that is returned, but only if the return is because of non-sufficient funds. This fee is assessed in part to offset the fees FACTS is assessed by our financial institution when your payment is missed or returned.
Authorized Users
Students can grant access to their student account to an Authorized User, allowing them to view the bill, make payments, and review payment history. Authorized Users do not have access to grades, class schedules, or academic records.
Privacy and Security
North Carolina A&T State University prioritizes the privacy and security of students' financial information. Electronic payments pass securely from bank to bank, and any information shared is kept confidential.
