Moorestown Friends School (MFS) is a private, co-educational day school located in Moorestown, New Jersey, offering programs from preschool through twelfth grade. A Glimpse into Moorestown Friends School's History
The origins of Moorestown Friends School date back to 1781 when thirty-three Quaker families collectively invested in a 2-acre (0.81 ha) plot of land near the intersection of Chester Avenue and Main Street. Joshua Hunt, born in 1753, was the first teacher in the Friends' school in the old stone school-house.
In 1827, a significant division occurred within the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, which included the Moorestown Monthly Meeting. This split resulted in the formation of Orthodox and Hicksite meetings. Consequently, the school divided as well: the Orthodox school retained the "Moorestown Friends Academy" name and remained on the original site, while the Hicksite school, known as "Moorestown Friends High School," was established nearby.
The physical campus evolved significantly over the years. The kindergarten building was erected in 1927, followed by the high school building in 1929 and a gymnasium in 1958. The current Lower School building was completed in 1965. Approximately two decades later, Stokes Hall was constructed, connecting the upper and lower schools. In 1997, the Commons Dining Hall was added to the campus. Renovations were carried out on the Field House in 2002 and the Woodward Henry Diller Memorial Library in 2003. In 2008, Moorestown Friends School expanded its facilities with the purchase of the Greenleaf Retirement facility, which was transformed into the Greenleaf South Annex and Hartman Hall.

Technology plays a crucial role in the educational experience at MFS. The school boasts more than 450 computers and laptops, distributed across five computer labs, ten laptop carts, and three mini-labs. Five of the laptop carts are for general use, while two are specifically designated for the middle and upper school Science Department. Mathematics, World Languages, and the lower school each have their own dedicated computer cart. A MacBook Pro cart is available for high-end graphical and media use, and an iPad cart is also provided. Every classroom is equipped with Numonic's interactive whiteboards with mounted projectors. The MFS library houses a computer processing center for students to research and prepare written work. The library's online catalog can be accessed throughout the school network or from home.
Extracurricular Activities
A wide array of extracurricular activities enriches the student experience at MFS.
Upper school students can participate in clubs such as Aerospace Club, Agenda Committee (similar to Student Government), Animal Awareness Club, Art and Stress Relief Club, Basketball Club, BBQ Club, Biology Club, Chinese Culture Club, Cooking Club, Creative Writing Club, Dance Team Club, DECA, Disney Club, Diversity Committee, Drama Club, Fellowship of Christians (FOCUS), Game Analytics Club, Gender Equality Forum, Girl Up Club, Glamour Gals, Health Awareness Club, History Bowl, Indian Culture Club, Investment Club, Jewish Culture Club, Martin Luther King Jr.
Middle school students have opportunities to participate in choir, band, theater, student government, robotics, architecture, web design, and newspaper, as well as a variety of sports.

Athletics
Varsity and Junior Varsity sports offered at MFS include baseball, basketball, cross country, field hockey, fencing, golf, lacrosse, soccer, tennis, and swimming. MFS is a member of the Burlington County Scholastic League and the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association, allowing its teams to compete for state championships. Sportsmanship, in accordance with Quaker values, is emphasized in all MFS athletics.
The boys' soccer team has a history of success, having won the Non-Public Group B state championship in 1979. More recently, the team won the Non-Public B South title in 2015, 2017, 2019, 2023, and 2024. The girls' soccer team won the NJSIAA Non-Public B state championship in 2017.

The Camden Scholars Program at MFS provides opportunities to students from the Camden City Public Schools in Camden, New Jersey. Selected students receive a scholarship that covers virtually full tuition to MFS. Camden Scholars are encouraged to pursue their interests and develop their talents through participation in clubs, leadership roles, athletics, and performances. The MFS community gathers weekly in the Meetinghouse for Meeting for Worship, where all are welcome to share their insights.
Tuition and Financial Aid
Moorestown Friends School is committed to partnering with families to help make an MFS education affordable. If MFS is the right learning community for your student, the school will work to ensure that the cost fits within your family’s budget. In addition to financial aid, MFS offers three payment plan options to make an MFS education more affordable. Need-based financial aid is offered to students in Grades 1 through 12. The award process is annual, so if a family’s financial situation changes, those changes will be taken into consideration. At the end of the application, there is a $60 fee to submit, and you can share your application with additional schools that accept the Clarity Application for no additional charge.
