As children grow, elementary and middle school Montessori programs can become pricier - in some cases $20,000 or more per year, since older students use advanced materials and require highly qualified teachers. For example, one cost survey found Montessori middle schools charging up to $25k-$28k annually in tuition.

Geographic Location

Geography plays a huge role in Montessori tuition. Schools in areas with higher costs of living charge more - sometimes a lot more. For instance, in California, Montessori preschool tuition typically ranges around $13,000-$14,000 per year, whereas New York City Montessori programs can average a whopping $28,000-$35,000 annually for the same ages (according to Playskills Toys). By contrast, Montessori schools in the Midwest or South tend to be more affordable: an annual Montessori tuition in the Chicago area might be about $15,000-$17,000, and in some southern states (like Arkansas or Mississippi) families see averages closer to $7,000-$7,500 per year. This means the “average” Montessori tuition has a broad range - your local costs might be quite different from the national mean. Financial Aid:

Richmond Montessori School is committed to making a Montessori education accessible to families from a wide range of economic backgrounds and our financial aid program reflects our commitment to maintaining an economically diverse student body and a quality private school education for students throughout the Richmond area. Our Financial aid program is designed to help bridge the gap between the cost of tuition and what a family can reasonably afford. Financial aid awards are based on demonstrated need as determined by an independent, confidential assessment through Clarity. Financial aid at RMS is partial in nature and is only available to school-aged children (Level kindergarten (P3) through 8th grade). We do not offer aid to our early childhood program or our Montessori Enrichment after care program. We encourage families who believe cost may be a barrier to apply and explore what may be possible through our aid program.

Financial Aid Deadlines for the 2026-2027 School Year:

Returning or Current Families: December 20th, 2025
Newly Applying Families to our school: January 5, 2026

Applications received after those deadlines will still be considered on a rolling basis as funds are available.

Process: Clarity is our system for assessing need on an equitable basis. To submit the application a $65 fee is required- separate from the application fee due to RMS. The financial aid fee is payable to Clarity. Documentation is required, including, but not limited to, the most recent Tax forms & W-2s. Contracts will also include the aid amount in them if the aid is requested within our deadlines. If aid is requested later, the contract may be extended without aid, and if financial aid is awarded they will be reset. Financial Aid is reviewed separately from applications and requesting aid does not impact your admissions process.

Montessori Academy of Broward (MAB)

Montessori Academy of Broward’s tuition is designed to fund high-level educational and program opportunities, hire and retain talented faculty and staff, and maintain a campus that will enhance the learning experience for all MAB students, allowing them to become free, confident learners for life. Montessori Academy accepts applications year-round on a rolling admissions basis.

Fees:

Application Fee: This is a $200 administration fee due upon submission of the Application for Admission. The fee keeps the child on the waiting list until an offer of enrollment is made. It is non-refundable and non-transferable.
Reservation Deposit: A $1,500 deposit toward the upcoming year’s Annual Tuition. This is due when a contract for enrollment is offered, and is deducted from the Annual Tuition amount. It is non-refundable and non-transferable.
New Family Fee: This is an enrollment fee of $500 for all families who have not been continuously enrolled in the school. It covers the costs associated with preparing parents and children for enrollment. (Observations, evaluations and the provision and processing of paperwork.) It is due with the Reservation Deposit when a contract for enrollment is offered. It is non-refundable and non-transferable.
Installment: This is the portion of tuition due on each payment date to fulfill the contracted amount. Programs are either broken into 8 or 11 installments. Payments for all programs begin on July 10, 2026 and end either on February 10, 2027 for the 9 month program, or May 10, 2027 for the 12 month program. There is currently no finance charge for this option. Parents choosing the installment option are required to complete and submit the Bank Draft Authorization Form to the school.
Tuition Refund Plan (TRP): The Tuition Refund Plan is a tuition insurance plan required of all families who pay in installments, and is also available by request to those who pay tuition in advance, in full. Once an Enrollment Contract has been verified, your financial obligation to the school is for the full annual tuition. If your child withdraw or is dismissed once the year begins, the TRP will provide substantial assistance in meeting your financial obligation, after the fourteen-day attendance requirement has been met. It is a one-time annual payment due with the Reservation Deposit.
Annual Tuition: The total amount contracted by the family for the time period specified.

Lexington Montessori School (LMS)

Every December, the LMS board of directors sets tuition rates for the upcoming school year. In recent years, we have kept, and continue to keep, tuition adjustments lower than inflation or in line with inflation, while also ensuring a strong educational program and robust compensation package for our teachers and staff.

2026-2027 School Year Tuition:

Toddler (ages 1.9 - 2.11 year olds): Half Day - $30,470, Full Day - $39,085
Children’s House (3 - 6 year olds): Half Day - $28,641, Full Day - $36,899
Lower Elementary (Grades 1 - 3): Full Day - $39,121

Tuition information for 2026-2027 (updated: February 2026). Tuition is inclusive. No additional fees are billed for any school-hour activities, materials, and required trips.

Before And After School Program (BASP):

The Before and After School Program (BASP) at LMS offers toddlers through middle school students a place to play, be with friends, and learn. Parents’ extended care needs are met while their children experience a familiar environment. Students enrolled in BASP can be dropped off as early as 7:45am, and picked up as late as 5:30pm. Before And After School hours are available at an extra cost. Actual costs depend on what time students are dismissed.

(Public options mainly exist for preschool and elementary; public Montessori high schools are more rare.) For private Montessori schools, many offer financial aid, scholarships, or sibling discounts to help families manage costs.
