Little Scholars Learning Academy Curriculum: Nurturing Young Minds
Little Scholars Learning Academy is dedicated to nurturing every stage of a child's development through a balanced approach that blends education with creativity. Serving children from 6 weeks to 11 years old, their goal is to provide high-quality, affordable childcare in a welcoming and inclusive environment. They strive to create a fun, visually engaging, and school-focused atmosphere where all children-regardless of background-receive the same level of care and support.
Curriculum Philosophy
The Little Scholars Curriculum focuses on all aspects of a developing child and is continually adapting to best fit the child and how they best learn. At Little Scholars Early Learning Center, they believe that children's joy and happiness are integral to their learning experience. Their approach fosters a fun and engaging educational environment, encouraging child-led activities that are adapted to their unique abilities and interests. By integrating the Creative Curriculum, they focus on holistic development, nurturing children's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth through playful learning.
Little Scholars Early Learning Center emphasizes play-based learning, where children engage in hands-on activities that stimulate their curiosity and creativity. Each day, children participate in structured and unstructured play that encourages exploration and problem-solving. This approach not only enhances their cognitive skills but also promotes critical thinking and decision-making as they navigate through various challenges in a safe and supportive environment.
Program Overview
Little Scholars offers a range of age-specific programs designed to meet the developmental needs of children from 6 weeks to 12 years old:
Infants (6 weeks and up)
The nurturing environment supports sensory exploration and bonding through cuddles, music, and age-appropriate activities that promote motor skills and cognitive development.

Toddlers
Toddlers learn through exploration. They are beginning to have structure in their day. The curriculum combines teacher-directed activities to fulfill toddler milestones. Morning circle time includes a variety of activities to foster language development and sensory exploration like story time, music, dance, song, and finger plays. Toddler teachers work on an individual basis with each student while others rotate to activity centers such as art, puzzles, blocks, and toys.
Preschool Curriculum (2-3 Years)
Each accomplishment fills 2 and 3 year olds with pride and a desire to learn more. They are active learners with a natural curiosity of the world around them and have endless energy. When children turn 3, they become more social and develop language skills rapidly. They begin to understand various concepts and think more symbolically and logically. The child-centered curriculum combines teacher-guided activities with time for free choice, play, and socialization. Children choose from activities such as free and cooperative play, science and nature, art, writing and reading, math, and block building. During circle time, the little ones share books, music, songs, and their experiences together. Little Scholars provides opportunities for discovery and hands-on experiences, which combine creative expression and skill building.
Pre-Kindergarten Curriculum (4-5 Years)
Pre-K Curriculum includes an Early Literacy reading program. 4 and 5 years olds are in a phase of wonder and exploration, where children want to learn more about the things they find most fascinating. Classes are designed for each child to acquire the skills and concepts necessary for later success in school. Little Scholars provides opportunities for children to explore things that are interesting and meaningful to them. Many of the learning competencies begin emerging in the pre-k years and continue to develop throughout kindergarten. Interactive, playful and inspiring, the preschool program consists of small and large group activities designed to facilitate development in language, motor and cognitive skills as well as in reading, math, and social skills. There is a balance of child-directed and teacher-directed activities, which are included throughout the day. Developmentally, play is a vital component of the program. The Little Scholars curriculum prepares children to get along well with others and become enthusiastic learners. The program allows the child to plan and carry out activities at the Center of his or her choice. These include blocks, dramatic play, science, a sensory table, art center, and a listening / story area. Teachers integrate children's spontaneous, day to day discoveries, interests, and curiosity into established learning goals and activities. Teachers engage in observing, guiding, learning and assessing children's progress to ensure each child's experience is rewarding and meaningful.
Before & After School Program (5-12 Years)
Little Scholars provides a safe and engaging space for school-aged children before and after school. Activities include homework assistance, arts and crafts, and outdoor play, ensuring children have a productive and fun time outside their school hours.
Holiday Care Program
During school breaks, school in-service days, and district snow days the Holiday Care program offers safe, reliable care for school-aged children! They fill the day with fun activities, nutritious meals, and themed events that keep children engaged and active. They aim to ensure that the kiddos can still enjoy their day away from school with friends and familiar faces, in a safe and secure environment.

Summer Program
The summer program is a super fun and engaging program for children getting ready to enter kindergarten and older, who want to get out and explore the world around them! Through partnerships with Lake County’s expansive park system, they curate an exciting camp that incorporates the diverse ecosystems and natural resources in Lake County. Campers receive their own Little Explorer’s Bag filled with materials to explore parks on field trips and then use what they learn and collect to engage in fun activities at the facilities. The Little Explorers Camp is always a hit with kids and parents alike each summer!
Enrichment Programs
Little Scholars Academy also offers enrichment programs for school-aged children, providing students with exciting opportunities to stay engaged during school breaks or when school is not in session.

Math Enrichment Program:
- Unique Mental Math Program

Environmental Science Enrichment Program:

Thematic Units
