Lemuel Plummer is a Detroit-born producer and entrepreneur who has made significant strides in the entertainment industry, particularly in television production and streaming media. His journey from an intern to the CEO of Zeus Network is a testament to his hard work, dedication, and understanding of the evolving media landscape.
Early Life and Education
Lemuel Olenn Plummer was born on April 10, 1986, in Detroit, Michigan, to Bishop Glenn R. Plummer and Pauline Plummer. Growing up in a blended family of eight children, Lemuel was immersed in the world of media from a young age. His parents owned and operated three television networks in Detroit, with his father serving as the CEO of Christian Television Network and having built five broadcast television stations in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Detroit, and New Orleans.
This early exposure provided Lemuel with invaluable hands-on experience. "I was very fortunate to be able to learn from, not only my parents, my other siblings who worked for the company," he recalled. He later attended Sail University, where he earned a degree in Entertainment Business, further solidifying his foundation in the industry.
Early Career and Rise in Television Production
Lemuel's career began with internships and roles as a production assistant on various television shows. At the young age of 21, he sold his first show, marking the beginning of his ascent in the industry. He moved from Detroit to Los Angeles, where he worked on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, an Emmy Award-winning reality series.
By 22, Lemuel was already selling shows to major networks like BET and Oxygen Network. One of his significant early successes was The Monique Show on BET. He also created and sold Preachers of LA (2013) to Oxygen Network, a show that allowed him to move into his own house after previously living with his brother and sister-in-law.

Lemuel continued to build his portfolio, producing The Westbrooks, a drama series about the lives of four sisters, often compared to The Kardashians. He collaborated with Entertainment One (EOne), a production company in its early stages, and produced series like The Sheards and Mary Mary for them.
L. Plummer Media and Production Successes
At 25, Lemuel established his own full-service production company, L. Plummer Media, based in California. Through this company, he gained further recognition for his work on various shows. He also partnered with Viola Davis and her company, JuVee Productions, in the four-part series How To Get Away With Murder, which follows a law professor and her students entangled in a murder plot.
Founding and Leading Zeus Network
In 2018, Lemuel Plummer founded Zeus Network, a subscription video-on-demand streaming network that focuses on celebrating Black culture. Subscribers pay between $5.99 and $59.99 annually for access to a variety of shows. As the CEO, Lemuel oversees most of the programming and serves as the executive producer of all the network's content.
Zeus Network also counts social media personalities like Amanda Cerny, King Bach, and DeStorm Power among its co-founders. While there have been rumors about Ray J's involvement, he does not own Zeus Network but has produced shows for the platform, including One Mo' Chance and The Conversation. He later founded Tronix Network.
Zeus Network: Content and Criticism
Zeus Network has gained popularity for its eccentric Black content, attracting a large audience. Shows like Joseline’s Cabaret and Baddies ATL have garnered significant viewership. "From a business standpoint, it is a huge audience that will stand by something that they like, that they find entertaining," Plummer noted. "We started a subscription video on demand platform, so we just wanted to create content that [millennials] find entertaining, compelling, loud, provocative, and it's been working."

However, the network has also faced criticism for allegedly stereotyping and inaccurately representing the Black community. Despite this, Zeus Network continues to attract a large audience and generate substantial revenue.
Plummer attributes the network's success to its willingness to empower talent through collaboration and creative control. "I've always looked at it in a way where the industry has overlooked and undervalued a variety of people for different reasons and perceived flaws whether that’s age, appearance, personality, et cetera," he explained. "We just felt like there was an opportunity there to give these folks an opportunity that [other] networks don't necessarily see the value [in], and create something unique."
He emphasizes that Zeus Network's deal structures empower creators, allowing them to be involved in the creative and business aspects of their shows. "They're able to be free and creative. They're generating more money than they would make in any type of situation when it comes to traditional networks or linear players."
Business Acumen and Financial Success
Zeus Network's offices are located in Los Angeles, where Lemuel resides with his wife, Janeisha. The network has experienced significant financial growth, with Lemuel estimating that it makes $60 million monthly on the lower end and potentially $1.75 million on the upper end. As of 2022, Zeus Network had an average of 300 million monthly views across all its platforms.
In 2023, Lemuel's net worth was estimated at $5 million, with projections reaching $5.1 million by the end of 2024. Zeus Network is his primary source of income, driven by its growing popularity. While hesitant, the 38-year-old CEO acknowledges that Zeus Network is worth a billion dollars.

Personal Life and Philanthropy
Lemuel is married to Janeisha Johnson, born on December 3, 1988, to Josephat John and Liz Torres. Janeisha was raised in the Virgin Islands and attended the University of the Virgin Islands. She was crowned Miss Virgin Islands (2010) and competed in Miss America 2008 and Miss Universe 2010.
Lemuel and Janeisha met in high school and married in 2017 after several years of dating. Janeisha is an accomplished model, actress, host, and producer at Zeus Network, with Lemuel supporting her career growth and personal development. As of 2024, they have no children.
There have been rumors of an affair between Lemuel and Scotlynd Ryan, who appears on Zeus Network's Baddies South, but these rumors are unfounded.
Lemuel is 1.74m (5'8½") tall and possesses skills in web design, venture capital, and digital marketing. Through the Plummer Foundation, he supports underprivileged children in Detroit and participates in various charitable organizations focusing on youth empowerment, education, and the arts. One of the charitable organizations that Zeus Network has supported belongs to Keturah Hamilton, receiving $10,000 in 2022. Lemuel's sister, Loriel Plummer, is the director of charitable giving. In 2023, during Thanksgiving, Lemuel and YG (multi-platinum artist and entrepreneur) provided turkeys and meals to needy residents of Compton, California.
Challenges and Future Aspirations
Lemuel Plummer has faced challenges in his career, including cease-and-desist letters from Viacom and VH1, who perceived Zeus Network as a threat. However, he remains focused on his vision for the network.
"We are black-owned. We understand your story. We understand your pain," Plummer stated. "We’ve been through the nuances of what these networks take you through, the behind-the-scenes from a business standpoint. So, we get it and that’s why we launched Zeus."
Looking ahead, Plummer anticipates that Zeus Network will feature more content with bigger celebrities and experience continued financial gains. "Zeus is at a place where we are generating significant revenue. We are on the road to creating a billion-dollar company, and that's the goal," he said. "We have a lot of bigger stars coming to the network. We're getting into scripted programming, live programming, and all sorts of programming that we think our audience wants to see more of overall."
