Preschool classes are available at Spring Avenue and Main Street Recreation Centers.
Preschool Programs: Nurturing Early Development
The Preschool Program at Glen Ellyn Park District focuses on facilitating learning concepts including writing, science, vocabulary, numbers, shapes, math, and other cognitive abilities. The curriculum blends academic learning with play-based activities.

- Two-Year-Old Program: Designed to meet the unique needs of 2-year-olds preparing for their next school year. Focus is on developing social skills, introducing a structured classroom environment, and encouraging learning through play. This program focuses on building trust, comfort, and early independence in a nurturing environment. Emphasis is placed on simple routines, parallel play, learning to follow one-step directions, and beginning to express needs with words.
- Three-Year-Old Program: Specifically designed for the three-year-old preschooler, this program builds independence, confidence, and readiness for more structured learning. Emphasis is placed on cooperative play, following multi-step directions, expanding language skills, and developing early pre-academic concepts through hands-on exploration.
- Pre-Kindergarten Program: Designed for developing readiness and success in kindergarten. Emphasis is placed on the development of academic skills through structured activities, including math concepts, lower/upper case letters, letter sound recognition, writing/sight words, and developing independence.
Age Guidelines and Registration: The Glen Ellyn Park District follows District 41 age guidelines. Registration will be for the complete school year. Families registering for the Preschool Program may do so online, or in person at Main Street or Spring Avenue Recreation Center. Adults must submit a copy of their child’s birth certificate when registering in person.
Payments: Preschool uses automatic billing/payments. A nonrefundable commitment fee of $150 will be required upon registration. The yearly class fee listed is divided into eight equal amounts charged to your credit card each month July-February. You may also pay for the entire year at registration. Registration cancellations for the school year must be made prior to August 1.
