Lathrop Learning Hub: Your Gateway to Academic Success
The Lathrop Learning Hub at Stanford University serves as a central hub for students, providing a wide array of programs, services, and resources designed to enhance their learning experience. Located on the first floor of the Lathrop Library, at 518 Memorial Way, Stanford, CA 94305, the Hub offers cutting-edge technology, expert assistance, and collaborative spaces to support students in their academic endeavors.
The Tech Desk: Access to Essential Resources
The Tech Desk at the Lathrop Learning Hub provides students with access to essential technology resources for free. This service is maintained by the principles of the Honor Code, Fundamental Standard, and Computing & Network Usage Policies. Enrolled students can utilize these resources even when taking courses remotely.
Borrow Equipment
The Tech Desk offers a diverse range of loaner technology and media equipment to Stanford students, catering to their academic needs. To borrow equipment, students can make reservations through the Patron Portal. For any assistance with the Patron Portal, students can submit a ticket for support. The Tech Desk also provides short-term loans for accessories like chargers and adapters.
Laptop Loans
The Hub provides both macOS and Windows laptops for loan. These laptops can be checked out from The Tech Desk. Laptop loans are short-term and subject to availability.
Adobe Creative Cloud Access
Students can access Adobe Creative Cloud software through various means at the Lathrop Learning Hub:

- Checkout Laptops: Borrow a laptop with Adobe Creative Cloud pre-installed from the Tech Desk. Instructions are available at the Tech Desk.
- LTS Cluster Computers: Utilize Adobe Creative Cloud on computers located in the LTS clusters.
- macOS Virtual Desktop: Access Adobe Creative Cloud through the macOS virtual desktop.
- Personal Computer License: Obtain an Adobe CC named user license from the Lathrop Tech Desk to use the software on your own computer for a set period.
Virtual Desktop: Access Anytime, Anywhere
The Lathrop Learning Hub offers a Virtual Desktop service that allows students to access Windows and macOS virtual desktops from anywhere. The service uses Apporto cloud service. This enables students to continue their work seamlessly, picking up where they left off.
Getting Started with Virtual Desktop
To get started, students can proceed to the home page and select either the Windows or macOS virtual desktop option.
AI Tools Integration
Learning Technologies & Spaces (LTS) has integrated a suite of AI Tools into all managed cluster computers and the Apporto macOS virtual desktop to support academic endeavors. After logging into the virtual desktop, a folder containing AI tools will open automatically, allowing students to launch the desired application. Available AI tools include:
- Claude (Anthropic): Ideal for in-depth analysis, code generation, and advanced reasoning.
Computer Clusters: Collaborative Workspaces
LTS supports computer clusters located across the Stanford campus. These clusters provide students with access to computing resources and collaborative workspaces. Residential computer clusters are restricted to residents in that building or local region (grad only).
Makerspace: Unleash Your Creativity
The Lathrop Learning Hub features a Makerspace, offering students a space to explore maker technology and engage in creative projects.

3D Printing
create:space allows students to design and print their own 3D prints. The Hub provides easy-to-use Labs P1S Printers and filament for students. To gain access to the printers, students must enroll in the Canvas course for certification.
Poster Design and Printing
The Lathrop Learning Hub provides resources for students to design and print high-quality posters. To ensure optimal results, a checklist is available to verify poster files before submission. Design resources and tips for creating effective posters are also provided.
Student Employment Opportunities
Learning Technologies & Spaces (LTS) employs students in four service teams. Students can apply to work as consultants, providing assistance with computer-related problems and other technical issues.
Computer Usage Policies
Computer usage within the Lathrop Learning Hub is governed by the Fundamental Standard and the Honor Code. All users must comply with outlined policies, guidelines, laws, and regulations.
