KPMG Executive Education Programs: Developing Leaders for a Changing World

In the complex and dynamic landscape of global business, investing in leadership development is key to staying ahead. KPMG International, with its vast network spanning 152 countries and over 189,000 professionals, recognizes the significance of empowering its leaders. KPMG offers a variety of executive education programs designed to equip professionals with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in today's challenging environment. These programs range from global initiatives focused on leadership development to specialized courses for directors and audit committee members.

KPMG's Commitment to Leadership Development

Known for its commitment to being the “clear choice,” KPMG places a strong emphasis on investing in its people and leadership. This commitment is reflected in the various executive education programs offered by the firm, designed to foster exceptional leadership and drive positive change. As part of its ongoing multi-billion-dollar investment program, KPMG plans to spend more than US$1.5 billion over the next three years specifically to focus on the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) change agenda. The collective investment will focus on training and expanding KPMG’s global workforce, harnessing data, accelerating the development of new technologies, and driving action through partnerships, alliances and advocacy.

Bill Thomas, KPMG’s Global Chairman and CEO said: “How you grow matters, and what worked for us and other businesses in the past will not work in the future. The world faces crises on multiple fronts, which is why we’re putting the Environmental, Social and Governance agenda at the heart of everything we do. ESG will be the watermark running through our global organization; from empowering our people to become agents of positive change, to the services with our clients and our partnerships with critical stakeholders.

Richard Threlfall, Global Head of ESG and KPMG IMPACT said: “It is incumbent on all of us - as businesses and as individuals - to play our part in tackling the challenges that threaten the future of our planet and the quality of life of people throughout the world. Our global ESG strategy will help equip our people to make a difference, as well as mobilize data and technology in support.

KPMG’s global ESG strategy comes less than a year after the organization launched KPMG: Our Impact Plan, which lays out the global organization’s commitments on ESG themes, with the ultimate goal of making an even greater positive impact on the world. KPMG was the first professional services organization to transparently report against the World Economic Forum’s Stakeholder Capitalism Metrics. The plan sets out a range of targets, including a pledge to become a net-zero carbon organization by 2030.

The Americas Leadership Development Program

The Americas Leadership Development Program is a nine-day initiative, strategically divided into three modules and hosted in São Paulo, Mexico City, and Washington, D.C. Since its inception in 2015, the program has educated and empowered more than 200 leaders within the Latin American region. Participants in this multi-city program focus on building personal leadership skills, developing and leading others, and influencing the organization. Georgetown faculty lead sessions that integrate cultural activities in each city, fostering a deeper understanding of the local context.

Carlos Fernandez Galguera, partner of Financial Services at KPMG, shared his experience, highlighting the professors’ global vision and exposure to different clients. “It is a pleasure and privilege to partner with Georgetown,” said Marcelo De Lucca, partner of People, Performance, and Culture-South America at KPMG. The Americas Leadership Development Program stands as a testament to the commitment of KPMG and Georgetown McDonough to foster exceptional leadership in a globally connected world.

Programs for Directors and Audit Committee Members

KPMG also offers specialized programs for directors and audit committee members through the KPMG Board Leadership Center. Many of the Board Leadership Center programs are eligible for continuing professional education (CPE). The Audit Committee Institute (ACI) hosts audit committee peer exchanges in several cities across the country. These small-group sessions-typically 10-12 participants-foster high-quality, candid discussions on issues and challenges that are top of mind for the attendee and their boards. Sponsored by the KPMG Board Leadership Center, this series of sessions brings together lead directors and chairs to share their insights and ideas. Sponsored by the KPMG Audit Committee Institute, this series of audit focused sessions explores timely issues and leading practices in audit committee and board oversight.

The Anchor Program

This two-session series is designed specifically for Directors at KPMG. The Anchor Program builds high-impact skills in two areas essential to executive success: navigating ambiguity and leading with presence. In today’s dynamic environment, leaders often face external ambiguity that slows progress. This session focuses on the behaviors that cause people to listen, trust, and follow your lead-especially in client-facing moments. One participant noted, “This was the most practical leadership training KPMG has allowed me to attend. Each of the sessions provided meaningful tools that made me think about my working style, my projects, and my teams."
