KCG College of Technology is located in Karapakkam, off OMR (Old Mahabalipuram Road). Being not too far from the city can be an advantage. It is near Chennai and much easier accessible than most of the other college in OMR. While the road leading from OMR to the college may not be ideal, it is a short distance and features a scenic pond on one side. The road from OMR to the college is very bad but then it isn’t even a kilometer and this stretch does have a pond on one side; so not that bad actually. Bus services connect the college to various parts of Chennai. There are buses from most of the areas of Chennai coming here.

Student Life and Culture

The student body at KCG College of Technology is diverse, including students from different regions. You do see a good number of North Indians here due to nearby Army establishment. There are many Mallu students too in KCG. The students do get along but then you still see the language playing a barrier. Hostels are also decent for which the students have to shell out 75,000 per year. Various symposiums and fests are organized, with "Reverberation" being a notable event. There are many symposiums cum fest happening in the college. 'Reverberation' is one of the famous fest conducted. However, these events may not attract large crowds, with most attendees coming from the KCG Tech campus and nearby institutions. The festivals are not that good really and don’t pull a whole lot of crowd either. Majority of the crowd hails from KC Tech campus and rest few are from nearby colleges managed by the same trust.

Rules and Regulations

KCG College of Technology is known for being less strict compared to other engineering colleges in Chennai. KCG college of Technology is not as strict as most other engineering colleges in Chennai. Although formals are compulsory here but you can mix it with some casual shirts. While formal attire is generally required, students have some flexibility in their choice of shirts. Attendance is compulsory here but you can mix it with some casual shirts. A minimum attendance of 75% is mandatory, with penalties for falling below 60%. 75% attendance is compulsory but not very strict above that. If you have attendance less than 60% then you are debarred. Also attendance is directly proportional to marks; if you have attendance less than 75% then you aren’t given any marks for it.
