Insurance and Billing
The ISU Health Center works with various insurance providers to ensure students can access the care they need. Students using outside health insurance not provided by ISU may still be able to use Student Health Services. Students should discuss with their insurance company which providers are in their network and covered by their insurance.
It is important to understand the difference between emergency and non-emergency care. The emergency room is for life-threatening, truly emergent health circumstances outside of your control. Non-life-threatening health conditions should be treated at an urgent care facility. Students are never required to give up protections from balance billing and aren’t required to get care out-of-network. They can choose a provider in their plan’s network and are only responsible for paying their share of the cost.
