Navigating the Intermountain Student Portal: A Comprehensive Guide
The Intermountain Student Portal serves as a central hub for students and their families, offering access to vital information, resources, and tools. This article provides a comprehensive guide to understanding and utilizing the portal effectively.
Introduction to Intermountain Christian School (ICS)
Intermountain Christian School (ICS) is committed to providing a comprehensive education. The school utilizes a student portal, accessible through a FACTS account, to streamline access to student information and tuition payment plans. This portal serves as a crucial link between the school, students, and their families.
Applying to Intermountain Christian School: A Step-by-Step Guide
For families considering ICS, the application process involves several key steps:
- Schedule a Visit: Prospective families are encouraged to visit the school in person or virtually to experience the learning environment and receive detailed information about admissions and enrollment.
- Online Application: The application process begins with creating a FACTS account. The FACTS account will become your "Parent Portal" for gaining access to student information and tuition payment plans. It is recommended to complete the online form from a computer rather than a mobile phone. The admissions director reviews applications upon payment of the application fee and full submission of the application
- Entrance Evaluation: To determine if a student is the right fit for a particular grade level, entrance evaluations are conducted. These evaluations help guide the student's transition to the school. For PreK-grade 5, an entrance exam is required, while transcripts and standardized test results are reviewed for grades 6-12.
- Family Interview: As part of the admissions process, families have the opportunity to meet with the Head of School for an interview. This allows families to have any remaining questions answered about what to expect from an ICS education.
- Enrollment: Following a thorough review, successful applicants will receive an enrollment offer. Admissions will contact you to offer enrollment, discuss the next steps, and welcome you to our ICS family.
Intermountain Academy: Individualized Education for Students with Autism
Intermountain Academy provides specialized education for students with autism, grounded in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). The Academy utilizes research based curricula that meet the academic, social, communication, behavioral and physical needs of all of our students. The Academy accepts referrals from school district personnel or private individuals. To begin the process, please enter student and contact information into our “Enrollment Interest” form below. When we have an opening that may suit your child, we will invite you for a tour.
Curriculum and Teaching Methods
- Individualized Curriculum: Intermountain offers each student individualized curriculum using the latest research and best-practice guidelines.
- Benchmark Advance Language Arts Curriculum: The Academy's structured literacy programs are standards-aligned and informed by the latest research into the science of reading. They feature vertically aligned units that empower students to engage deeply with a topic to build skills within and across grades. Spiraled mini-lessons integrate new and previously learned skills using topic-based unit texts and resources.
- Direct Instruction: The Academy employs direct Instruction, a teaching method rooted in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and extensively tested and proven to nurture students into confident learners including at-risk, ESL, special education, and at-level students. Lessons are scripted and quickly paced.
- Multi-Level Classrooms: Recognizing that students with autism have various levels of functioning and academic abilities that do not necessarily correlate with age or grade level, Intermountain Academy currently employs one teacher in each of its multi-grade classrooms who is proficient in ABA, as well as at least two trained technicians. This results in a maximum 5 to 1 student-to-teacher ratio. One-on-one student support is available as needed.
