Indiana University (IU) offers a range of urgent care services across its campuses to cater to the immediate healthcare needs of students, faculty, and staff. These services are designed to address illnesses and injuries that require prompt attention but are not life-threatening, providing a convenient and accessible alternative to emergency rooms for non-critical conditions.

On-Campus Healthcare at IU Bloomington

Students at IU Bloomington have access to a full-service medical clinic right on campus: the IU Student Health Center. This center should be your primary source for routine health care needs.

Medical Care Services

With a full-service medical clinic, lab, X-ray facility, and pharmacy, students can get treated start to finish. The IU Student Health Center offers a comprehensive suite of medical services, including physical therapy to recover from an injury, and a lot more.

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)

Stressing out over your studies? Just need someone to talk to? The IU Student Health Center offers experienced counselors. They offer everything from individual in-person and video counseling to group workshops.

Billing and Insurance

If you’re an enrolled student, the IU Student Health Center allows you to skip the checkout line and have your charges automatically sent to your student account-you’ll pay them when you pay your student account bill. If you have health insurance through IU, there are no deductibles or co-pays for health services at the IU Student Health Center.

Our walk in urgent cares have on-site lab and X-ray services, which help us diagnose and develop a treatment plan. Physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and the rest of the team are here to provide you with excellent care. Not feeling your best? Additional Services

Our urgent care facilities do offer sports and camp physicals. If your school or camp requires a signature from an MD, please contact the Urgent Care to ensure an MD is available. Our urgent care locations do offer X-ray services for broken bones and other fractures, but availability may vary. Urgent care is designed to supplement your primary care. For insured patients, we collect your deductible and/or your co-pay at the time of service, and then bill your insurer for you. After your insurer sends an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) to us, IU Health Urgent Care will bill you for any balance still due. IU Indianapolis Campus Health: Bridging the Healthcare Gap

Get the medical care you need without leaving campusWhen you’re juggling classes, homework, and all the other stresses that come with student life, it can be tough to find time to get to the doctor’s office.IU Indianapolis Campus Health can fill in the gaps. We offer a variety of medical services at our on-campus clinic, so you can get the care you need to stay well. You’re welcome to walk into the clinic to seek an appointment, too. We handle those on a first-come, first-served basis. We are located at Lockefield Village on the first floor.If you’re going to be late or can’t make your appointment, please call us as soon as possible. If you are more than 15 minutes late, we will reschedule your appointment. Only the front entrance to Lockefield Village will remain open, and the east sidewalk will be the only access point to the building.The east sidewalk is noted in red on the map.Disability parking spots have been added in Lots 94 and 97 to support accessibility.Ambulance parking will be in the area marked “A” on the map (intersection of Indiana Ave. and University Blvd.).Emergency exits will remain open and accessible at all times.Campus signage will be in place to guide visitors and staff regarding the lot closure and building access.Deliveries should continue to be routed through the front entrance during this period.

Visiting Campus Health or finding after-hours careYour health is our top priority. By visiting Campus Health when you have a medical concern or are feeling sick, you can quickly get seen by a provider, get to feeling better, and get back to focusing on being a college student.Appointments are strongly recommended. Walk-in appointments will be accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis and will be given the first available appointment time for that day. We usually can get you in the same day or a nurse may triage your concerns to determine the urgency if there are no same-day appointments available. Tips for Incoming Students

If you are an incoming student-or a parent of one-it will be important to ensure you have everything you need. Here are some tips to make your medical care a priority and ensure an easy transition to campus.Check to see if a physical exam is required prior to attending classes.Make sure you know the name and dose of any medication you take and have an adequate supply to get started.We experience every season in Indianapolis, so be able to list all your allergies.Be able to provide proof of vaccinations based on the requirements of IU Indianapolis and the school/program in which you are enrolled.Call your health insurance provider to ask about coverage and co-pays when visiting the Campus Health clinic.Know where the Campus Health clinic is located on a campus map. Notice for Medical Students

At the Indianapolis campus, medical students can access vaccines, primary care, preventative, and women’s health services at IU Indianapolis Campus Health. Other diagnostic or therapeutic health services not available at this location can be accessed by referral. Urgent care needs can be accessed at IU Health Methodist Hospital or IU Health Urgent Care Centers.

Urgent Care for Children

Urgent care serves as a bridge between your child's primary care doctor and the emergency room. It is the best place to go when your child needs to be examined and you cannot get an appointment with your pediatrician. For a more comprehensive list of conditions treated, refer to our symptom guide or learn more at IUHealth.org. If you are unsure where to take your child, first call your child’s pediatrician. If you are still not sure where to take your child after talking with his or her doctor, call the nearest IU Health Urgent Care. When you bring your child to one of the IU Health Urgent Care locations, it is our goal to treat the condition and send him or her home in comfort. If needed, we will help you schedule a follow-up appointment with your child’s primary care doctor. We operate with extended hours, typically from 8 am to 8 pm on weekdays and 8 am to 6 pm on weekends. If your child is a new patient to your local urgent care, the staff will enter all of your contact and health insurance information into the electronic medical record system. Every IU Health Urgent Care is staffed by a full-time, board certified family physician, a nurse and a radiology technician. Whether it’s a sore throat, sprained ankle or stitches needed, sudden illnesses and accidents happen. IU Health Urgent Care locations are open days, nights, weekends and holidays when your doctor’s office may be closed. Get the care you need right away from the Urgent Care team of physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners.
