- Cultural Immersion: India shares borders with six different countries and boasts a rich history, offering a unique and memorable experience. The northern border is defined by the Himalayan mountains, while the south features lush forests and vast deserts. A number of different religious holidays are celebrated in India, such as Holi, Diwali, Eid, Ramadan, Christmas, and more!
- Professional Development: India's rapidly growing economy provides opportunities across various sectors, from healthcare and NGOs to business and technology. Interns can gain practical skills, build their network, and explore where their knowledge can take them in the business world.
- Affordable Living: Compared to many Western countries, the cost of living in India is relatively low, making it an attractive option for students on a budget. A one-bedroom apartment can range from 5000Rs to 8000Rs (depending on location).

Navigating Cultural Nuances
Interning in India involves adapting to a different culture and understanding local customs.
- Etiquette: Due to the remains of the caste system, Indians are very aware of social hierarchies and relationships. Social order and status can be very important; for example, sometimes it is customary to greet the eldest/most senior person in a business meeting first. Also, be aware of religious customs and culture.
- Language: Hindi is the most used language in India; so it may be helpful to have at least some understanding of common phrases and greetings. However, most Indians also speak some English.
Tips for a Successful Internship in India
- Research and Preparation: Take the time to research each internship and its geographic location. Read about past student experiences in India.
- Cultural Sensitivity: Be respectful of local customs and traditions.
- Communication: Effective communication is key to navigating cultural differences and building relationships.
- Flexibility and Adaptability: Be prepared to adapt to new situations and embrace the unexpected.
