Understanding Holy Name High School Tuition and Financial Aid Options

Navigating the costs associated with private education can be daunting. Holy Name High School understands this and strives to partner with families to make a Holy Names education accessible to all qualified students. This article provides a comprehensive overview of tuition costs, payment plans, and financial aid opportunities available at Holy Name High School.

Tuition Costs

The tuition structure at Holy Name High School for the academic year is determined in January, with payment commencing in July. A deposit of $500 toward tuition is collected upon new student registration.

Plan C: Catholic Student & Active Contributing Member of Parish & School

This tuition plan is available to active and practicing Catholic students whose families are registered at Holy Name Parish. This plan requires that families be active contributing members of both the parish and the school. To qualify, families must fulfill a School/Parish Service Requirement and make contributions to Holy Name Parish.

A Non-Refundable Registration fee is required to hold the accepted student's space for the upcoming year. For new students, the registration fee is $900, which includes a $500 registration fee and $400 applicable to October tuition. Returning students have a Non-Refundable Registration fee of $500.

In addition to the registration fee, there is a $250 Building & Maintenance Fee that supports the upkeep of the school and its facilities.

Payment Plans

Holy Name High School offers flexible payment plans administered through FACTS, a widely used payment plan provider. FACTS provides a secure and confidential payment path.

Payment Options

  • Two Payments: Two payments of equal amounts are due in July and December.
  • Monthly Payments: Monthly payments are payable from July through April.

Once the online tuition contract is signed, families are required to set up a tuition payment plan through FACTS.

Financial Aid Opportunities

Holy Name School recognizes that families have varying financial needs and make financial sacrifices to provide their children with a strong academic education. Many families request financial assistance. Awards are made for a one-year period, and families must re-apply each year. As part of its commitment, the school strives to partner with families to make sure that a Holy Names education is accessible to all qualified students. Decisions regarding financial aid are made by the Financial Aid Committee on the basis of a family’s demonstrated need and the availability of funds from the school on a first-come-first served basis.

Application Process

Families requesting financial aid must apply for TADS funds before completing the Holy Name Financial Aid application. To qualify for financial aid, families must submit an application and all required supporting materials to FACTS, the online service which processes the school’s financial aid applications.

The application process is fair and confidential, assessed by an outside firm (TADS) that specializes in school financial assistance programs. Financial aid awards are made based on a family's demonstrated need and the availability of school funds.

*Note for Divorced, Separated, and Never Married Parents: To ensure that all families will benefit from third-party evaluations of their financial aid applications, both parental households must complete all the above steps individually. If one parent is not involved in the student’s life, a statement to that effect by a third party who is aware of the situation in a professional capacity (e.g., lawyer or clergy) may be substituted for the financial documents from that parent. The Financial Aid Committee will review your financial aid application once all documentation has been received by FACTS and the student has been officially accepted to Holy Names.

BASIC Fund

The BASIC Fund is a privately funded program dedicated to broadening the educational opportunities for children by helping low-income families afford the cost of tuition at Bay Area private schools.

BASIC Fund scholarships are based on household size and income. Scholarships cover 25%, 50%, or 75% of the family portion of the school’s tuition, up to $2,500 per year per student. The family is responsible for paying the remaining tuition balance, which needs to be at least $500 for each school year.

Families can submit their 2024 Tax Return along with their application, but we highly encourage families to submit their 2025 Tax Return as they won’t be required to update on next year’s renewal application.

Merit-Based Scholarships

Academy of the Holy Names offers merit-based scholarships to students regardless of need. Students who not only meet but exceed the selective admissions standards on entrance exams will be eligible for scholarships ranging from 15 to 25% tuition discount on the family’s tuition contribution.
