Navigating Gannon University: A Guide to Bookstore Hours and Campus Services
Gannon University provides a comprehensive range of services and resources to its students and employees. Understanding the hours of operation for key facilities like the bookstore is essential for academic success and overall well-being. This guide offers detailed information on the Gannon University Bookstore hours, along with other important campus services, enabling students to effectively navigate university life.
Bookstore Operations and Hours
The Gannon University Bookstore is a crucial resource for students, providing textbooks, course materials, supplies, and Gannon-branded merchandise. The bookstore's hours of operation can vary, especially during holidays, breaks, and the start or end of semesters.
Key Dates and Hours
- July 29 Onward: The bookstore will be open on specific dates and times, reserved only for ordering and picking up books.
- August:
- Specific dates in August are designated for ordering and picking up books.
- The bookstore will remain closed to general merchandise shopping until August 12, as preparations are made to safely reopen for all standard services.
- Prior to January 18: With the start of face-to-face classes delayed until January 18, updates to the guide to hours and operations on the Erie and Ruskin campuses were shared.
- January 8-9 & 23: Closed.
- After January 23: Standard hours will resume.
Ordering and Pickup
Students are encouraged to order course materials online through Gannonshop.com. The bookstore also facilitates the delivery of orders directly to dorm rooms before move-in. For students living on campus, in-store pickup orders completed before August 1 were delivered to dorm rooms before August 4. Orders completed after August 1 must be picked up in the store.
Rental Book Returns
Rental books should be returned by November. Free shipping labels are available for all rentals via Gannonshop.com. Students should return their books as close to Saturday, May 9, as possible.

Besides the bookstore, Gannon University offers a variety of services to support students' academic, personal, and professional growth.

Academic Buildings
Academic buildings such as the Center for Advanced Engineering, Center for Business Ingenuity, Institute for Health and Cyber Knowledge, Morosky Academic Center, Palumbo Academic Center, and Zurn Science Center generally follow standard hours, with some exceptions during holidays. Buildings will be locked on Monday, January 17, in observance of the Martin Luther King Holiday. The Zurn Science Center can be accessed through the Eighth and Ninth Street entrances.
Health and Counseling Center
The Health and Counseling Center is open with normal operating hours. During times of closure:
- Medical emergencies: Contact Gannon Police & Safety at 814-871-7777.
- Mental health emergencies: Contact Crisis Services at 814-456-2014 or go directly to the ER.
- After-hours support: Available at any time using the ticketing system (my.gannon.edu/technology) or phone support (814-871-7501).
From November 30, Health & Counseling will be open as outlined below. Due to COVID-19, walk-ins are not accepted during this time. If you are living on-campus and are in need of non-urgent medical care during this time, please contact Police and Safety at 814-871-7690. The Gannon nurse on-call will then reach out to assist you further.
Knight Club
The Knight Club will re-open Thursday, January. Masks are mandatory inside the Knight Club.
Metz Dining
Spring semester meal plans begin on Saturday, January. Regular hours of operation for all locations will resume on Tuesday, January 18.

- Chick-fil-A: Specific dates in January (soft opening).
- Doc’s Landing: Specific dates in January.
- InterMetzo: Closed January 10-17.
- Urban Brew: Specific dates in January.
Meal plans were extended through finals week. These locations operated under standard hours through November 19. Doc’s Landing was the only on-campus location open for dining over break and accepted Meal Deal Cards and GU Gold. It was open Monday-Friday from November 30 to January 22, and closed on weekends and between December 19 through January 3. Spring semester meal plans resumed for dinner on Sunday, January.
All dining facilities on campus were closed November 26-29. Doc’s Landing reopened on November. Doc's Landing is open from 10am-1pm, Monday-Friday, for Faculty, Staff and Students only. Metz will be running a limited grill menu along with Grab N' Go items. Cash, Credit and GU Gold will be accepted.
Nash Library & Student Learning Commons
The Nash Library & Student Learning Commons provides extensive resources, including online databases, full-text electronic journals, and ebooks available 24/7.
- Specific dates in January: The Library will be closed.
- Regular hours: Resume Tuesday, January 18.

- Reopened August 3: The Nash Library reopened August 3.
- Hours for November 30 through January: Specific dates in January.
- Building closure: The building will be closed from December 19 through January.
Please use the Sixth Street entrance to access the library. The Seventh Street entrance will be closed.
Recreation and Wellness Center
The Recreation and Wellness Center offers adjusted hours. Masks are mandatory inside the Recreation and Wellness Center and Fresh Café.

- Closure: Due to recent Pennsylvania restriction guidelines, the Recreation and Wellness Center is closed through Monday, January 4.
- Normal winter break hours: After January 4, normal winter break hours resume through January.
As of March 17, all space rentals at the Recreation and Wellness Center have been canceled until further notice.
Residence Life
Residence Halls are accessible to those who cannot delay their return to campus and must return prior to January 15. The Office of Residence Life is open during normal business hours. Outside normal business hours, on-call support is available for residential students by calling 814-871-7000. Residence halls will be closing March 22. Students may request a room and dining plan credit (as applicable) for time not spent in university-owned residences or using the dining plan. Seniors and master’s/doctoral students currently living in university-owned residences who are graduating in May 2020 are eligible for a pro-rated refund (as applicable) for time not spent in University-owned residences or using their full dining plan.
Store U-Knighted Pantry
The Store U-Knighted Pantry is available for all students. The Pantry will be closed November 25-26 and December 25-26 for the holidays.
Student Success Center
The Student Success Center offers in-person and virtual assistance.
- January 10-14: In-person and virtual assistance available. Appointments are encouraged.
- Specific dates in January: Virtual assistance only.
- Closure: The Student Success Center is closed on weekends and for university holidays.
- Normal hours: Resume beginning January.

It was closed on weekends and for University holidays during this time (November 26-27 and December 21-January 1). It will resume normal hours beginning January.
Waldron Campus Center
The Waldron Campus Center is open for students to access printers, dining, and study spaces as scheduled.

Information Technology Services (ITS)
ITS provides assistance for personal hardware and software. Laptop and equipment loaners are available in limited numbers. Resources are available for remote internet connectivity and password reset.

- OGSSE: Currently working remotely.
- Knight Watch: Operations ceased as of March 13. Students may request transportation services from the Knight Watch van through November 22.
- Writing and Research Center: Now online.
- STEM Center: Re-establishing tutor availability and hours for online appointments.
