- Have your photograph taken and undergo a biometric scan of your palm vein for identification and security purposes.
Before the exam, you will be required to store all personal items in a locker outside the testing room or leave them in your car. Prohibited items include cell phones, calculators, books, watches, bags/backpacks, food, and jewelry.
Breaks are permitted during the exam. However, the timer will continue to run, so manage your break time wisely.
Scoring
The FTCE Professional Education test is scored using a scaled scoring method. Your FTCE score is determined by taking the number of questions you answered correctly (your “raw” score) and converting it to a scaled score. To pass, you will need to achieve a scaled score of at least 200. This means that you must answer at least 71% of the questions correctly. The reason your raw score is converted to a scaled score is because everyone that takes the test is given a slightly different set of questions. Since everyone has a different arrangement of questions, and because some questions are harder than others, converting your raw score to a scaled score ensures a more even playing field.
