Florida A&M University Scholarships: Requirements and Opportunities

Scholarship Application Portal

FAMU utilizes an online scholarship portal to streamline the application process.

Portal Availability: The portal typically opens in January for Fall/Spring scholarship opportunities. For example, the portal will open on January 20, 2025, for Fall 2025/Spring 2026 scholarship opportunities.
Application Deadline: Applications are generally accepted until mid-to-late April. For instance, applications for Fall 2025/Spring 2026 will be accepted until mid-to-late April 2025.
Application Steps:
1. Complete the General Application.
2. Complete any supplemental applications presented.
  - Be sure to upload your personal statement.
  - Upload and complete any additional information even if it is not required.
  - Proof read your submission and read them to someone else. Get help if needed.
3. After you complete the application(s), you are done!

Any applications submitted in November-December 2024 should still be active in the portal, but please ensure all information is up to date. Once your applications are complete, no further action is required!

Note to Incoming and Transfer Students: The scholarships portal is for enrolled students at FAMU, not new Admits.

Presidential Special Scholarship: Specific Requirements

The Presidential Special Scholarship program is a merit scholarship for high school graduates with diverse talents outside the classroom. This scholarship covers tuition fees, excluding the postal fee and orientation fee, as well as charges associated with room and board.

To be eligible for the Presidential Special Scholarship, students must meet the following criteria:

High School Diploma: Possess a high school diploma or its equivalency (unless the student completes a home education program or earns a high school diploma from a non-US high school while living with a parent who is on military or public service assignment away from the US).
Standardized Test Scores: Achieve a 1220 SAT score or an ACT score of 27, with a minimum score of 600 on the SAT math section or 27 on the ACT math subject area.
GPA: Maintain a 3.5 GPA.
College Readiness: Be college-ready, meaning no remediation or remedial courses are required.
Enrollment: A student must maintain enrollment in the degree program under which this award was made. Students may not change majors. A student must enroll in fifteen (15) credit hours per semester.

The scholarship is renewable for a maximum of eight semesters, provided the student completes 15 credits per semester and maintains a 3.3 GPA.
